Cal men's basketball has added another key piece to its 2026-27 roster with the signing of Jake Wilkins to join head coach Mark Madsen's Golden Bear squad.
Wilkins is coming off a freshman season played at Georgia – his NBA All-Star father Dominique’s alma mater – where he appeared in 32 games and scored in double figures five times. The 6-9 forward was the Bulldogs’ top scorer against Florida A&M and Maryland Eastern Shore, earning himself a spot on SportsCenter’s top-10 with a windmill jam in that win. In all, he averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 rebounds per game at Georgia.
“Jake is one of the most exciting players in the portal,” Madsen said of Wilkins. “His combination of length, athleticism and skill make him a force on both ends of the floor. He has one of the highest ceilings of any player in college basketball. We are excited to add Jake to the Cal family!”
In his prep career, Wilkins rated as high as No. 35 in the nation as a prospect out of Grayson High, where he was a member of the 2024 Class 7A championship team. A native of Lilburn, Ga., Wilkins scored 16 points and had eight rebounds in the 2025 Iverson Classic All-American game and also participated in the 2024 NBPA Top-100 camp.
Wilkins joins a Cal program that made big strides in 2025-26 in recording the most wins in a season (22) since 2016 and its first postseason win since 2014. Last season's squad also recorded eight games with 90-plus points scored and had five players ranked in top-100 national statistical categories.
