Park north of the stadium on/off Julian St. There are a few small lots up there and if you get there early there may be street parking (unlikely). But up there you are just a few blocks from the Highway 87 onramp, both North and South which can get you to 101, 280/680 whereever you're going. I wouldn't park in the stadium lot. It will minimize your walk time but you will probably wait longer to get away.

If you are looking to have drinks/etc before the game park in San Pedro Square area. From there you can walk to places like Britannia Arms which will be on your way to the arena. It's a great atmosphere before Sharks games there, and I'm hoping it will be the same Thursday. It's not a far walk from there to the arena, but I can imagine if you had trouble getting around in general being grumpy about the distance.

Overall though I have not had any bad experiences getting in and out of the arena, so you should be fine.

If you're coming Thursday, remember that it's a work day for the non-college-hoop-addicted portion of the population. That means parking in downtown San Jose will be expensive. Another alternative is to park a bit further away, then take the light rail in. For example, there's a sizeable lot at the Tamien light rail station, which is maybe a 15-minute ride from HP. If you're coming from the Peninsula or SF, CalTrain, which stops at Diridon Station directly across the street from the arena, is your best bet.

Not sure if this is helpful, but the DASH Shuttle runs for free between the Diridon Caltrain station (near HP) and SJ State.

Park in the garage in San Pedro Square. It is a half mile walk or there should be pedicabs to bicycle you to HP pavilion. There will be pedicabs after the game to take you back.

There should be fans from all schools walking to HP from the east. I noticed last time that fans from other schools will walk to HP from the downtown San Jose Hotels. As others have mentioned, there are a lot of eating and drinking to celebrate / drown your sorrows after the game in the San Pedro Square area. The San Pedro Square Market (sort of like the Ferry Building) has a number of eating places within 3 buildings plus a bar and a wine place. It is like a much fancier food court without any of the places being part of a large chain.

If you take Caltrain from the peninsula, Diridon station is a short walk to HP. If you take a VTA express bus from Fremont BART, it will also drop you off at the Diridon train station.

There is also the Capital Corridor (Amtrak) from Sacramento and the East Bay to San Jose: LINK

FWIW I park at the big structure at San Pedro square for Sharks games. It's pretty quick to get to off the freeway, and pretty quick to get on. A bit of a walk, but I've found it to be the easiest way to get in and out quickly.

I parked in the parking structure on N. Almaden just north of W Santa Clara Blvd for $10. Less than 5 minute walk and pretty easy access from southbound 87, and easy access going back to 87N or 280N. Sign said the lot was full, but the Oregon game had ended, and there were lots of cars leaving, so I took a chance and pulled in anyway, paid my $10, and went right in :-D

I couldn't find my car after the UNLV game because I was forced to park in the neightborhood. I was told by the attendant at the main lot that Season pass holders were the only ones allowed in the major lots. So Season pass holders of the Sharks all bought NCAA tickets and used the lots? Sounds very far fetched.

I'll take Haas any day over that place.
