Wow...early second half. I guess when someone asked Solomon at Kezar over the summer what he was up to, and he said "post moves, post moves, post moves," he wasn't kidding.

That was the first time I have ever seen Solomon get the ball down in the low block and NOT turn and face or shoot some form of fadeaway. He even lowered his shoulder again later on from the low block to try and get inside position. (Anthony Bennett was great at this against us.)

Granted the competition was not stellar, but that was some of the best overall bball I have seen from Solomon regardless of what his stats say.

Post play has been a key missing ingredient of the Monty era (has fared poorly recruiting big men/why we're locked in at one and done imo). Solomon's development may be a key ingredient this year. Need to keep him out of foul trouble (limit block shot attempts) as we are not deep here.

Sure was a drop step! In fact, later in the half, he did a double move and an up-and-under.

Re foul trouble: fascinating comments from Monty about how they're experimenting with ways of defending high ball screens w/ only 2 bigs they can count on. (he said that firing out on the screen exposed Kravish and Solo to fouling)

SUU in general are not a very talented team, but in the post they have experienced players whose strength is interior defense. Solomon is definitely among the best in the Pac.

They can hit some outside shots .... Put together both inside and the outside game and they might surprise a few teams

I saw that too! Great to see from Richard.

What was more impressive is that on several occasions I saw him forego a reach that would have been an automatic cheapie foul for him two years ago.

We don't need cheapie reaches from our only post player (i love Kravish but he has no post moves). Richard was using his body the way God intended out there!

Kravish is not aggressive enough in wanting the ball to score, but several times he has shown a nice soft hook shot when in the deep post. The problem with David is that he does not emphasize his shooting of the ball.

Am hoping that he will come around on this as the season moves along.

Go Bears!

It was a drop stop, and done very quickly with no hesitation and very nicely. I loved it.
