We lose Solomon and Cobbs this year. Diallo and Rorie are good fits to replace them. Powers also graduates. Johnson gave us an extra scholarship to work with.
Rorie/Wallace/Singer leave us in good shape at the point.
Mathews/Bird/Singer/Wallace leave us good on the wing.
We know we're thin at the post now, but Rooks, Behrens and Moute A Bidias all should become more productive by next year with Kravish being the anchor and Diallo also in the mix.
So we really don't have any glaring weaknesses in terms of depth. Another post prospect could push Moute out to the wing. Eleraky could come in with more maturity and experience than a typical freshman.
We only lose Kravish and Kreklow the following year, so saving scholarships and holding out for better recruits next year isn't a bad idea. If Bird leaves after just one or two years we could use some more depth at guard.
Kreklow is a wing as well, and yes the backcourt looks nicely stocked.
Next year there will be only 4 upperclassmen -- Kreklow, Kravish, Wallace, and Behrens. As he's still trying to get his knee to cooperate, I don't think it is a given that Christian will play next year. I hope he gains some confidence in his play this season, but we'll have to see what the future holds.
For now, Eleraky seems like priority 1A if he can get the academics completed. Agree that his experience and maturity would fit well. I think he would slot in as the starting 5. One thing to keep in mind is that he would come in as a soph, making it a 6-man class. That isn't ideal.
I'm excited about Diallo's potential but don't think he's done enough to project him to play a significant role next year.
So I think Eleraky or a starter-quality post (someone else from the JC ranks?) is a must. If there is a small forward who fits and isn't a reach (a guy who legitimately blows up his senior year, a Spring decommit from another program, or a JC), I could see adding some depth there with Kreklow graduating and Bird a potential two-and-done.
Beyond that I say save the spot for the 2015 class unless something unfortunate happens with Behrens.
