Jarron Collins is an unabashed homer who couldn't stop talking about Stanford. OK, he did play there and isn't really a professional announcer. But Aaron Goldsmith did nothing to steer him back to the game at hand. In fact, he often contributed more comments about how the Stanford team was doing and asked leading questions to get more Stanford talk out of Collins.
It would be interesting to count the minutes spent discussing and praising Stanford vs. Cal. Sort of like time of possession in Football. I'm sure it wasn't really even close. Really painful and amateur work.
Oh yeah, Cal played tough and deserved to win the game in case you somehow couldn't see the game and only heard the announcers.

Yes, i expect a younger color announcer to favor his team esp in a rivalry game -- Jarron gave what you would expect and it didn't bother me. But the play by play Goldsmith has to reign him in and provide a little balance, and that was the main problem.

You know the crew is horrid when they cut to the studio for half time and you tell the wife "crud, why can't marquis Johnson be calling our game tonight instead of being in the studio."

My thoughts. Heck, I would rather listen to George Rambling again.

That Furd homer mentioned nothing when Powell got his 5th..

I can't say that I've heard one west coast analyst that's worth a damn . Collins , Johnson, Walton and even the lesser known are terrible .

I think Lamar Hurd, on Pac12, is pretty damn good. Have enjoyed his take on Pac 12 network, and hope we hear more of him when the time comes.

No. It is not hard to stay unbiased if it is your job to remain unbiased during your work. If one is unable to do this, one should get another line of work.

Do that all you want at the Stanford viewing party but not on a TV broadcast when you are the broadcaster. It was complete and utter BS and unacceptable.

He does have a future in Chicago baseball broadcasting. Yuh-yuh-yes! He gone!

Yeah, Ron Santo should not have this type of job either. That said, Santo works for the Chicago Cubs. Bias in that environment is far more understandable and defensible (hell, Kruk and Kuip are clear homers on Giants broadcasts) than broadcasters on ESPN, Fox, the Pac-12 channel, etc.

If Jarron Collins wants to work on the Stanford broadcast team, go for it. Just don't pull that $hit on a "neutral" station's broadcast.

Glad I wasn't the only one to notice how completely sophomoric and biased the broadcasting team was!

Does anybody know who is in charge of that network sports programming?

Not sure how many of you have listened to Stanfurd radio broadcasts the last few years, but I'll take this opportunity to point out how much respect I developed for Drew Schiller, because he was almost the anti-Collins in this context. He was absolutely the most unbiased Stanfurd announcer I have ever heard. It was incredibly refreshing, and he really developed into a very competent and insightful announcer as well. I'm not sure what he is doing now. He was with the Pac-12 network, not sure if he does that or Stanfurd radio anymore . . .

...inflicting inarticulate ex-jocks upon us? Most offer little that's truly insightful and it's not as if the game is that complex in the first place.

I heard Schiller a couple times and agree that he was pretty unbiased and fairly insightful.

More unbiased than Bob Murphy? Now that's really saying something.

Did anybody else get the directtv pop up that told you to adjust the reolution by pressing the RES button on the receiver? I got it and did it....voila! Pic improved. Why in the hell wouldn't they have made that automatic? 480, 720, 1080, whatever...the receiver/tv should figure it out....absolutely ridiculous.

Agree, Schiller is pretty good as you say, and he also seems to put in the time to really know the teams playing. Unfortunately for him, his voice is thin and nasal, which might limit his opportunities.
