1. Cal was outshot from the floor, 35% to 40% for the Buffs
2. Cal was outshot from three, 29% to 33% for the Buffs
3. Solomon, Kravish, and Bird were 15-29, while the rest of the team was 8-36, or 22%
4. Cal was outrebounded by a lot, 35 to 45 for the Buffs
5. Cal had fewer turnovers, 5 to 12 for the Buffs, more steals, 5 to 2 for the Buffs, and more shot blocks, 8 to 3 for the Buffs, and yet Cal could only get 3 more shot attempts than Colorado.
6. Our two bigs, Solomon and Kravish combined had more assists, 5, than our point guard, Cobbs who had 4.
7. Our wing, Kreklow had more assists, 6, than anyone who played in the game.

Montgomery likes to look at stats, and often talks about them. I wonder what he thinks about these numbers.

If I'd been told before the game that some of these things would be in the boxscore, I don't think I would have predicted a win. It was a win. A little different perhaps. But pretty good team play on both ends of the court. At least the players are back to trusting each other more than over the last few games.

The key for Cal was that they were narrowed the rebounding deficit the last 10 minutes of regulation and OT.

They were down 30-16 @ half and, even worse, down 12-6 in offensive rebounds.

Another interesting stat: we did not score a single field goal in OT, yet won.

Yes, when I was looking at the box score and saw that we went 0-7 on FGs in OT, I just shook my head in amazement. I'm sure that it has happened before, but it certainly has to be considered rare to pull off such a feat.

I don't think we looked that bad on the glass. Total rebounds is not a good metric as it doesn't take into account how many opportunities each team had. We missed more shots than the Buffs thus they got more D rebounds. There were a a few times where they ate us up on the O glass but it wasn't nearly as bad as we've seen at times this year.

Wallace really struggled. Missed three layups and made three other unforced mental errors. Hopefully we don't see another game like that from him. His confidence needs a boost.

Kreklow played a solid game despite poor shooting. Passed the ball well and played decent defense. Bird had a good game all around. All in all, we played solidly save for our ability to make open shots.

I believe that turnover differential was the stat that Pete Newell considered more important than any other.

Even the announcers noticed this during the game and commented on how odd it was. We couldn't get shots to fall, but toughed it out with offensive rebounding and Cobbs drawing contact.

And can you possibly guess what they are saying on the Buff board about this right now???? Haven't been there, but.

I may be a little off. But with about 4 mins left in the game, there were 7 fouls called on cal and 2 fouls called on cu. I repeat, 2.

So buff fans can go f themselves.

This is a good example of what I mean by lack of confidence affects everything a player does. It gets in your head and sometimes you can't do anything.

Confidence works in reverse to. When you got it sometimes you can't do anything wrong. Witness Lacy vs us

When overtime started I was amazed that Cal still was not in the bonus. I don't think the Buffs can complain too much about foul calls going against them in this game.

At one point the announcers pointed out that late in the game having fouls to give can sometimes be bad. In this case Cal had a 1 point lead and the Buffs had several fouls to give. However fouling Cal under these circumstances only resulted in the ball going out of bounds with time for Monty to have the team set up and send in a play.
