Utah is a team that could make some noise, they get you to play a very ugly type game, and in tournament play they can be dangerous.

They drew the absolute worst match up for themselves in the 2nd round, as Arizona can have an off night and still beat them. Utah would need to play lights out and have Zona have a horrible shooting night to make this a game.

It's in our best interests to have AZ win as well to boost our RPI, avoid a bad loss and give us the upside of another top flight win

I don't think it matters that much. Obviously, if we get by CU and win the next game, we are in the tournament regardless of whom we beat. On the one hand, UA improves the RPI and SOS. On the other, Utah is probably easier to beat.

I'm not so sure that we are in with a win v. CO. So I think we root for Utah which would give us a better chance to make the finals.

you got lost in translation there.

ursa is saying if with beat CU. no matter who we play next, whether it be utah or AZ we will advance, which i agree with.

if we get that far, we might as well just win the whole pac-12 tournament, you think?

I guess the argument here is that if it take 2 more wins to ensure that we are in the NCAAs, then it would benefit us to face Utah in the semifinals rather then Arizona.

I suppose it would also benefit us to face USC rather then CU, if we are solely interested in moving ahead in the tourney.

Would love to be a fly on the wall during the Selection process one year to see how they value the Conf Tourneys and RPI, BPI, SOS, etc.

Just beat USC/CU tomorrow and you give yourself a puncher's chance of getting in

Agreed, although a win over Colorado and a competitive loss to Arizona is a lot better than a win over Colorado and a loss to Utah. In the latter case, I think we're out, in the former case, we're probably in, but I'm not sure. A blow out loss to Arizona, we're probably out. A win over both Colorado and Utah and a loss in the finals to any of UCLA, ASU, Stanford, or Oregon, and I think we're in.

Since who I root for won't affect the outcome, I won't worry about whether the result I'm rooting for will turn out to be the best. I'm rooting for Utah.

Since a win over SC won't help us, I'm also rooting for Colorado to win in 7 overtimes today.

Should Cal get that far, playing Utah would be a huge gift.

USC is hanging with Colorado so far. at halftime, its 29-27 CU.

A lot lower scoring then I thought it would be. Hope that these two teams beat the living crap out of each other

OK, they didn't go to any OT's, much less the 7 I asked for, but at least it went down to the buzzer so the Buffs had to keep the regulars in for the whole game.
