It has been said many times but it is the MAIN reason 6 of 12 Pac teams will make the Tourney and we're not one of them - MONTY CAN'T RECRUIT.

I do not agree.

If a coach relishes recruiting and understands that he has to because....he's coaching HERE, at Berkeley!!!!!...and he therefore really has to.....(our athletic universe is athletes, not Rhodes scholars) if he is going to have any chance at all to make it work at Berkeley, he will get SOME of Them.............not all of them....................BUT CERTAINLY SOME OF THEM.

If you believe we are holding a place for a transfer one might conclude there could be a guy who only got six minutes of garbage against Georgia who might be a candidate to immediately start and contribute next year. Probably need to see how early departures impact kentucky but he and big bro but he can not be happy about a repeat of this year if his goal is to get to nba. Heck if they can swing it maybe there is a hardship claim and needing to be back at home

Two ways:
1. A special consideration NCAA release (ala Joseph Young at Oregon this year). Not likely for Cal next year.
2. A graduate school admission of an early graduate who has a year of eligibility from another school. Not out of the question....

Could. Now the NCAA is random in its application of rules but local kids coming back have traditionally had a greater chance of getting it if they are helping out with a family issue.

A good reason not to burn bridges and get in pissing matches with family of recruits that choose another school over Cal. I'd hate to think that posters here gave said recruit and his family any reason to think twice about transferring to Cal.

Yes, I knew of both of those ways-I was alluding to the student that was being hinted about. Obviously, number 2 is out the window given the specific subject matter. I was wondering if there was knowledge of something leading to number 1 besides wishful thinking...
