Dayton's a fun team. Good athletes, well coached. Those
Miller boys are ripping it up. Is there a younger one we could grab?

Anyone catch the Furd "announcers" on 1050? Heard the last twelve minutes of the game - Scott Reiss and John Platz (sp?) - Reiss was sarcastic, frustrated, offended, dejected; everything that happened was just unbelievable how it wasn't going Stanford's way. Way beyond the normal hometown or alumnus (or both) announcer bias; like Stanford was entitled to a win (go figure).

Yes, it was deliciously painful--so unprofessional, so much angst. They came across as petulant children. I enjoyed a big dose of schadenFurd.

Stanfurd supporters having a sense of entitlement is nothing new. Always has it been so!

I was happy to see Furd go down, but it still bothers me that Dawkins has now taken his team farther in the Tourney than Monty has.

OK but...(see, season over, time to pump sunshine once again)....

Dawkins also hasn't had enough talent to lose guys to the draft. Imagine our team if AC had stayed. Our next "hump" is getting to the point that we can lose guys early but have the talent right behind them to fill in.

Yes. By the end, they weren't even announcing Dayton scores. Twice Flyers were at the line and the only way you could tell if they made the shots or not was by the crowd, because the "announcers" were too busy yammering about the biased officials (Dayton actually got called for more fouls than furd) and Randle's mistakes.

Remember earlier in the season when some clueless posters were asserting that Dayton would go down as a "bad loss" for Cal because they were such a mediocre team?

Dawkins gets a technical and today says it was his team he was yelling at not the officials. The self-entitlement of these guys is surreal

Dawkins hasn't done much with his team. They got lucky to get in the tourney and even more lucky to make it as far as they did. This team could have just as easily been bounced in the first round of the NIT.

Funny how a few here were so quick to tell us how awesome Furd is in every way. Some Cal fans have serious mental disorders.

I don't think Dawkins is a very good coach, and I hope that this mini NCAA run will earn him a contract extension. I'm just pointing out that all Monty has done for us is win a couple 1st round NCAA games. Big deal. Sorry that I do not worship him like some around here do.

I don't _THINK_ I posted that. What I did express was my frustration that Dayton beat us the way a lot of teams beat Monty teams - out muscling them and playing through contact. I have come to conclude that it isn't recruiting - rather it is something endemic with Monty's philosophy when it comes to lifting and bulking up. You just look at the guys in the tournament and so many of them are RIPPED. You look at our guys - and not so much.

both Solo and Cobbs are 'ripped'

Our problem is we don't have enough players in the 6-8 to 6-11 range with plus athleticism and decent basketball instincts to crash and rebound. With Diallo we're essentially treading water because we lose Solo. I really hope Oliver works out because he seems to fit this mold but the silence is starting to become deafening. Would love to add another 1 or 2 when that becomes a possibility, preferably guys who are just rebounding machines. Wouldn't even care that much if they didn't bring much offense to the table.

Sorry, socal, but what you're saying is nonsense. Of course our freshmen aren't developed physically--they're in their first year. But you can't deny that Cobbs, Solomon (who didn't play against Dayton) and others have gotten a lot stronger in their time here. Cobbs is one of the stronger PG's in the country. Playing physically has more to do with a mindset and approach. You can have a "ripped" body and play soft.

Some guys are just hard gainers. Kravish and Wallace have gotten stronger. Let's not talk about Powers. It's because of Monty's poor recruiting of bigs that he even saw the floor this season.

You don't need to look like you're a football player to play this game. Some guys bulk up and it has a negative effect on their game.
