That ridiculous guaranteed contract for 15 mil kept him around, not Doc. If Rivers thought so highly of Scalabrine why didn't he play him over Leon Powe in the 2008 playoffs? I agree that Doc is the better coach; that is why he played Powe over Scalabrine whose only contribution as a player was to block the huddle. Besides, your analogy doesn't work. Doc coached him, while he served as an assistant to Jackson; apples to oranges. He might turn into a decent coach someday but now is not the time to take a risk on someone so unproven. Besides, he's a trojan!

school is in LA, low admission standards, easy to stay in school, has a new stadium, lots of money, and recruits will like "dunk city"

Enfield was indeed a one-hit wonder, but he would have likely taken this years FGCU team to the Tournament or come close to it. Also, when you're SC, basketball is not the highest priority. They've never had sustained success and what others may deem as a big risk was not a big risk for them, as they did not have much to lose. CEnfield was a hot name that brought a flashy game (uptempo style). If it works out, you do back flips. If not, it's not a huge loss. The worse thing they could have done was hire a coach that brought a boring style and had little upside for success. Enfield brings a lot of upside, especially with the recruiting base that he has.
