IF the search firm really did interview Few Tuesday and Sandy reached out to Brey with an 8 year buy-out then that would mean Cal has money to spend. That means some donors have stepped up and Cal has a chance to be a major player in this search...

If Few is interviewing that is something.

This must mean that we are keeping Dykes for at least another year...

Dykes for another year is a good thing in my opinion. Changing the coach so soon after hiring him would only ensure a negative impact in the program. You really can't evaluate a coaching staff until they have had the time to instill their system, which means getting their own players on the field.

Should be a lot of action this weekend at the Final Four in Dallas. Every coach in America is there, lots of ADs conduct and close their coaching searches at the event every year. I would expect Sandy to be there and talk to any prospective candidate who is on the radar

If you ever have a chance to go to the Final Four you have to swing by the coaches' hotel. You walk through the lobby and it's a who's who of coaching

Not as negative as having another year like last year....

I went to the Final Four in NOLA 2 years ago, and happened to stay in the coaches hotel by chance (Hilton at the end of Poydras, across from Harras Casino). It was insane. I sought out Monty and we had a nice chat. Went to dinner in the hotel restaurant before the championship game and about 10 minutes into dinner they sat Tubby Smith and his lovely wife next to us. She commented on my meal, so I struck up a conversation with them. He was highly complementary of Cobbs and was very happy for him that things (at that point) were beginning to work out for him at Cal.

It was a scene though, that's for sure. Lots of assistants running around making connections for their future. Very interesting experience.

interesting so final four event is sorta like a career fair for coaches not playing in the games.

Yes, it is a huge convention and networking event for coaches. Lots of action going on there, plenty of rumors in the lobby, assistant coaches looking for gigs, ADs in town to interview guys for open jobs.

First time I ever went to the Final Four I walked through the lobby and saw Roy Williams, Jerry Tarkanian, Lute Olson, Gene Keady and Coach K in the span of like :60 seconds. Lot of fun.
