Is it just me, a proud B34rpapa, or has Rob developed a good outside shot?

You should be proud. We missed the Thurmanator big time this year. Good to see him develop his game. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting the video and giving us an update on the Thurmamator!

For his first couple of years at Cal, I saw his offensive potential, but also saw his defensive liability (lack of feet quickness), but from his junior year he learned better defense and worked on his athleticism where he was a solid defender. In fact, because of his size, strength and bulk, he was a great defender based on match ups.

About his junior year you could also see his offense grow, and then by his senior year he broke out. I still remember how he took the team on his shoulders to beat USC, and he did so with his mid-range shooting.

It was about that time, and maybe because of the USC game, that I thought he was one of the (few) players who Monty didn't utilize correctly. Monty primarily used him as a rebounder and for putbacks, and to stay in the low block for drop offs. Occasionally he would put Robert in an iso, where he'd back his man down for a hook shot, or to otherwise score.

However he almost never put Thurman out wide facing the basket
I thought that was a mistake

Where were all those offensive moves (post moves, fadeaway jumpers, jump hooks, outside shots) a year ago?

Stunning enlargement of his game in all phases.

I don't know much about the Danish league and the level of competition compared to high D1 teams like the Pac 12

I think Sami Eleraky played for the Aalborg Vikings in the Danish league, and ultimately Cal decided he wasn't good enough two years after playing on that team

Regardless of how the Danish league competition compares to the P12, I still think that Monty should have allowed Thurman to play more away from the basket at times. Kinda like how Kravish plays -- both in the post, but also floating out to 17 feet

You guys were the best fans. But why the Shane Vereen football jerseys?

I believe in supporting the team and the school, so the only choice for a jersey that was legit was the Cal Store and the only customized jersey we could get was a football jersey...you did see the name on the back, right? !?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff Powers and the seniors for welcoming us back for senior night and to yell my head off for the Bears....and the warm welcome from all the Bears that night, especially Coach Trav and the parents, Alums and Bear fans....so many questions about Rob and thank yous for being there....Shelley and I really loved feeling like we were home again. If you ever want us back, just let us know.....and could I, JUST Once, hang out with the students....my energy seems wasted around the older fans who seem to be annoyed at my shall we say slightly above average love for the Bears.....
I will only say one thing negative here. After our first meeting, we were never welcomed after the game by a certain member of the Coaching staff....everyone else was there with a handshake which was never accepted without a HUGE hug and a GO BEARS.....all but one of that staff were as dear to our hearts and in our prayers. Coach Jay was especially honest in both his critque and his praise of lil'Rob...and we will forever be in his debt for it......
THANK YOU BEARS AND BEAR FANS.....ALL OUR LOVE,
Dutch and Shelley Thurman
ps....next year at the Lux, swing by for drinks at our suite....we may not have tix to the tourney, but will have a d4ink and love for all our friends in Berkeley...

Awesome post! I wish you were here posting during the Thurminator's senior year. We were amazed by his hops. You can stand with the students -- during the winter break, I think Cal athletics allow anyone to migrate into the student section to stand the whole game and yell their heads off. I think you and your wife need to be there LOL. Again, you made your presence felt at all of the Cal basketball games. I'm sorry someone slighted you, but I think things like that will happen in any org., unfortunately. You're always welcome on our board!

Are you guys any relation to the famous Buddhist scholar with the same name as little Rob, and that scholar's famous daughter?

Fantastic update!

Make sure and visit your son over the summer for the Roskilde music festival.
