I think someone else may have brought this up already, but what do people think about the notion of Auriemma as a coach in men's basketball? I'm not even really thinking about it in relation to our open position, but more in general. I think he makes about $2 million a year at UConn. Do you think he would consider taking a job as a men's head coach, would he only consider premier programs, and maybe most interestingly, how do you think he would do? Is there any notion that whatever he is doing to be so successful in the women's game might not transfer to the men's game?

UConn fans talked about this when Calhoun retired and I remember reading on their boards that some wanted him over Kevin Ollie. I don't think Geno has an interest in coaching on the men's side.

I think one big adjustment for Geno would be recruiting. His entire recruiting network is presumably on the women's side of the game.

I believe there is an AAU system for women, but I've gotta think it's not nearly as political and ... umm.... sleazy as the men's side.

I would think Geno would have tried this by now. Since he has not then he's not interested in coaching guys. Nothing wrong with that. He's the king in the women's game and he gets paid well. Probably sleeps like a baby at night.

I've read that on the interwebs

...I think if it was the right situation, that he'd consider it for the challenge. He did say that women listen to his coaching more than men
might - and that's something that scares him

There is nothing to be gained from AAU relationships in women's basketball, since they all stay in school for 4 years and the best a player may get from a WNBA contract is peanuts compared to the men's game.
