God he better bring guys. I am praying he has good relationships with Rooks, Bird and Mathews from the past recruiting wars or it is going to be ugly. Oh well, the life of a bears fan.

If it is JP, we would have to conclude we now have our version of Nike Phil.

Also, he probably doesn't have a great relationship with Rooks.

Please explain. Or do you mean there's an alumn effectively running the show, making the decision?

There's simply no good info out there. They are doing a great job of keeping their lips sealed. We're hearing names like Turner and this guy and that guy that part of me feels like it won't be any of these guys, sort of like how UCLA hired Alford by surprise last season. If it is indeed a surprise, I just hope it isn't a bad one.

From reports from other places, it is this, if Joe is the hire.

Not to be rude, but nobody on this roster is so great that their relationship with the new coach is of paramount importance.

It is already going to be ugly. Monty got out at the right time. Cal has bottom third in the conference talent going into next year. And unless Bird cares more about college basketball than the pros, he is not going to waste a year sitting out.

Joe Pasternack was Braun's video guy before becoming an assistant coach and is Roxy Bernstein's brother in law. He's a nice guy who can recruit but there is something about him I really don't like.

Agree.
And how much of a factor was he in guys deciding to play for Arizona?
socaliganbear;842302429 said:
Arizona, Oregon, CU (if Dinwiddie stays) will be at the top, as they'er the best teams with the most returning. I would then guess UCLA and Utah, who returns everyone, and then likely us. Most of the other teams are not very good and lose a lot.
tsubamoto2001;842302442 said:
Arizona could be preseason No. 1 in the nation. Utah, CU, Oregon, and UCLA should be tournament level teams going into the season. Stanford loses Powell and Huestis but has a good class and some injury redshirts getting eligible. I'd probably put all those teams above us going into the season.

The guy who KICKED JORGE???????????????????????????????

I would think a lot since he knows the Bay Area. Confirm tsuba? But yah, I'm not a big fan, esp. with the Jorge incident. But if Roxy vouches for him, I could be persuaded. Anyway, right now out of the all the names bandied about, I want TD.

Thank you for this recap. I hated Braun like most hated Tedford at the end. I cringe at the thought of taking anyone with a Braun connection. Howland is no longer my least favorite potential candidate.

There are a few large Jewish donors and from what I hear there is pressure from them to hire Pasternack.

He has a good Oakland Soldier relationship? If so could he help with Rabb?
