grats bears..way to finish the game

Wallace as a PG is not doing it.
PG must have a pass first mentality. Wallace is shoot shoot shoot all the time. The rest of the team looks a little frustrated.
Now tied 22-22.

Under the circumstances, a helluva win. Ty is a man among boys.

(i was surprised Nevada didn't foul Wallace again late in the game--even when we were in double bonus.)

if Wallace can find a way to improve his FTs....PAC12 POY. 2nd time he's carried this team already.

To me, Wallace is looking like he is planning to leave after this year.
Thanks to Wallace's 29 point, we won, but, it was not easy.

This win and 7-1 just might get Cal ranked.

Europe? Nevada is slated to finish 8th in Mountain West. Don't forget Mr. Wolf's words of wisdom from Pulp Fiction.

People with more knowledge of the NBA who think Wallace is ready can fill me in on his position. In my mind, he needs to either 1) establish himself as a point guard and improve his decision making and distributing or 2) develop his shot (to play the 2). It seems to me developing those two are best done in college, but as I said, people with more specific knowledge can fill me in.

Don't get me wrong. Wallace has the skills and aggression to be a top rate NCAA Div. 1 player. At 6'4/6'5 his current skills don't translate to NBA success. If he was Kravish's size he would be a lock. I also respect his rebounding ability. There is no way he leaves Cal early for the NBA. Not going to happen.

Cal's RPI was 122 coming in to today.

I think he's quickly getting close to a pretty scary (as in scary-good) NBA PG

I'm with Bearister. He's got to be able to establish a consistent shot, both from FT and perimeter set-shot/jumper. He's making his money right now for Cal by driving, and looks great that way. But let's just see the basic shooting skills before we consider the NBA. In the NBA, he's gonna have Dikembe Mutombo wagging his finger at him in the paint. And guards and SF's that are bigger and can defend stronger.
But no doubt, he's been lighting it up lately.
I think he's going to be given this message in April, and spend the entire summer desperately improving his J before his senior year.
There are hundreds of quality ball players EVERY year that are on the fence. He's got a lot of competition with the elite to make it.
Here's rooting for Tyrone!
PS: Allen Crabbe and Jorge Gutierrez proved me wrong. Jerome Randle, Ryan Anderson did not.
PPS: Tyrone is a tweener for the style of his play. Not PG/SG skilled enough, per above. Not big enough to be a slashing PF.

he missed the front end of a 1 and 1 down the stretch AGAIN.
Would an NBA team take such a poor shooting guard???
Or does he have to prove he can shoot first?
I think he has to prove it, and thus must stay another year to do so.

Well the current RPI rankings have a 4-2 Wisconsin Green Bay team as the #1 team in the nation. Safe to day the RPIs mean nothing right about now....unless maybe if you're a Buffalo fan. They're sitting pretty at 15. Still unfortunate to see us behind a 1-0 Incarnate Word team at 84 though.

Ryan Anderson didn't prove you wrong? You mean Ryan Anderson that 2 years ago before his injury averaged 20 ppg?
TheSouseFamily;842419806 said:
Wallace is hitting 50% from the field and 43% from three point land. Sure, the sub 60% mark from the line meeds to be improved but given his other shutting stats, I do t know how you can say he's not a good shooter.
And how about TW's overall improvement from last year. From 11 ppg to 18ppg. From 4 boards per game to NINE. And from 3 assists to 5. That's pretty remarkable. I'll worry about the NBA later and just enjoy what a great player he's turned into.

Didn't I type that Anderson proved me right?
I thought he'd do well in the NBA and he has! It was smart to leave early, didn't think he'd stick around for Monty and he didn't and he's doing great!
