Wyoming looks to be handful, and the way we've been playing as of late, this would seem to be a tough one; but I like our chances at home.

I actually think eastern Washington will be much tougher than Wyoming. They are 7-1 with a win at Indiana.

Cal has displayed over the last three games that they can lose to anyone. The Bears played miserably @ Fresno State & Nevada, surviving each encounter by seven points. Montana also caught Cal in its slump. Jabari Bird played vs the Bulldogs but DNP against Montana or Nevada.

Tyrone Wallace has had to virtually single-handedly take-over games lately because nobody else can score. Today he was responsible for nearly 50% of the offensive production (29 of 63 points). Kravish & Matthews have looked lost on the court. My expectations have dropped considerably for the team after these three stinkers. The Bears have to be one of the luckiest 7-1 teams around...I hope that the team's play in every aspect improves bigtime before conference competition. I would contribute that Wisconsin should manhandle us based upon playing back east two years ago. They were unbelievably physical.

12-13 not likely, but who knows. :>)

We are 7-1 now.

We should beat WY, Princeton, EW, Bakersfield and WSU (one of the two weakest team in Pac-12) because we are better and we are at home.

Washington is a toss-up (they are undefeated and are beating #13 SDSU 31-22 now, but, Romer always chocks at Haas), even when they have a good team.

Wisconsin is a loss.

So, we should head to LA with a 13-2 (2-0 Pac-12) record hopefully. But it could be 12-3 (1-1) or as we have been very inconsistent and have Bird and Chauca are injured, it could even be 11-4 (1-1) or God forbid 10-5 (1-1).

I think it is going to be 12-3 (1-1 Pac-12).

I was counting on four solid scorers for a balanced attack while the team mixes 'n matches for the fifth spot. Thank goodness that Ty is emerging into the bigtime star on the team. Without him, I doubt that the Bears win those games. Behrens is improving and Singer is playing worse than I imagined...Tarwater is also in a shooting slump.

I'm happy that Cal is 7-1 but the 4-1 was solid while the last three "weak" performances were without much "team" in multiple ways. GO BEARS!

I'm extra discouraged because I just watched the #10 Cal women's team get humiliated on national tv @ Kansas. One of their big four scorers, soph Courtney Range, had to be carried off of the court w/ a left knee injury. The women were averaging 90 ppg and scored 39 points today.

E. Washington AND Wyoming are good teams (not to mention Wisconsin)

If we played like we have the last 3 games we will be in trouble
I'm sure both teams will have 'stop Tyrone Wallace' t-shirts printed for our game

In just about a week UW goes against EWU. I'll be checking the Pac-12 Networks for that one as both are upcoming for us. Also, EWU will be in SF later this week.

Seven straight at home is a nice way to end the year, more easily deal with finals and segue into conference play...

This is a nice time to get things together for conference play. Staying home, practicing hard, and working things out in games. A new staff and an inexperienced group playing together without Solo and Cobbs needs time. I like that the Bears are finding ways to win. That shows some toughness, in my opinion, when things are not going smoothly and things are a struggle. Also, the new group is developing a culture of winning.

Yes. Instead of looking at we could have lost against Montana and Nevada, or played horribly v. Fresno State, look at it that we know how to win games under not so good conditions. Even under Monty we lost games we should have won. See @UCSB last year. Yes, they were pretty decent, but we had two senior starters that should have gotten us over. Those are games we should win. So basically, while it has been ugly at times, we are winning games we should win. I don't remember having such a clean OOC portion of the season in a while (knock on wood it's not over yet). For now, I think we are good to win games we should win, whether by the skin of our chin or not. While that is happening, I see Cuonzo continuing to teach the kids how to be consistent, how to play through adversity, how to start taking it up a notch as the season progresses. Go Bears!

I'd say UW is the surprise of the PAC 12
They just beat SDSU
Their center transfer has transformed that team as a dominant defensive force

Not sure their game will tell us anything unless UW loses (which would shock me)

Good post. Not many thought that this would be our year, so I'm prepared to take the lumps with the impressive wins.

We're a team that will rely on perimeter scoring to be at our best, a recipe for occasional disappointment.

Yep. And in 2012 we lost at home to a Harvard team that wasn't very good. In 2010 we lost at home to Southern Miss. Monty's teams lost OOC to teams they shouldn't have almost once a year. It's basketball, these things happen. What's important is the team has been playing consistently good defense and that is something we can lean on as the offense works itself out.
