at least that's what he says he needs to prepare for the NBA... same report has his trainer mentioning him being "able to score like Melo" on Adam Zagoria's blog...

He comes off as a smart kid that knows what's he's doing. And I've said that before he committed.

Cal should absolutely be a top destination for high-talent, intelligent, thoughtful kids like Brown and Rabb (to name only 2 of our many exemplary student-athletes). As happy as I am as a fan that "we got them," I'm happier for them that they get to have Cal. I can only live vicariously through their basketball exploits, but I KNOW first hand the life-altering impact Cal is going to have on them intellectually, culturally and spiritually. It's really refreshing to see high talent kids not sell themselves short as people. Not every 5 star will have that makeup, just like not every regular student fits, but there must be more out there. As I said when Martin was first hired, there has to be a message to these types of kids to maximize your accumulation of benefits while you have leverage, and that a spot at Cal is a huge asset. Looks like Martin and Co. are the right team to successfully deliver that message, or one of their own, and whatever they're saying it's glorious!

Brown has talked about taking the time to make sure he's a "superstar" when he enters the NBA---I get the sense he'd rather spent an extra year or two playing for a college team over riding a pro team's bench.

If he's ready to be a superstar after 1 year, I don't see why he wouldn't leave. But my gut tells me he's going to stay for 2+ years. Brown is clearly willing to make unconventional choices.

This guy's tape is top five lottery pickish. You never know about these things, but if I was a betting man, I think he is gone after this year. Also, Cal will be final four if the team meshes, so he will have plenty of opportunity to get superstar status. This team will be high profile now with this class.

Ok please explain what "Uptown Funk" has to do with Jaylen Brown? Also this rendition of the song does nothing to alter the image of "nerds" at CAL but it was entertaining.

He's a top 5 guy next year if he lives up to his potential. Rabb as well.

This writer made the connection in his piece... he was wondering how on Earth "Cal was able to land not one, but two 5-star prospects despite going just 18-15 last year and missing the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons"
