Jaylen Brown isn't wasting any time in his quest to cement himself as a California legend, quite a turn for a Georgia boy.

Just weeks removed from officially choosing to play his future basketball in Berkeley, Brown took on the so-called Based God curse, so-called because of Kevin Durant's lack of titles after criticizing Lil B's music. As noted by Sports Illustrated, the hex has also allegedly been placed on Houston Rockets star James Harden, whose "cooking dance" celebration may or may not have drawn on Lil B's prior work.

So what does Jaylen Brown want with Lil B? He wants a game of 1-on-1, as soon as he can get it.

Here's the tweet from Brown, the consensus No. 2 overall recruit in the class:

Jaylen Brown @FCHWPO

When I touchdown in Berkeley I challenge @LILBTHEBASEDGOD to a game of 1 on 1 😴🏀
5:41 PM - 23 May 2015

That snoozing emoji is cold, Jaylen. We just hope that an impromptu machup between Brown and Lil B can be arranged and that it won't constitute an NCAA violation when it comes to fruition.

And it looks like Lil B has accepted:

Is Lil B related to Money B from Digital Underground fame? Both come from the East Bay and have the same last name.

PS. Please do a rap about Condoleezza Rice. I'll handle the lyrics: "I'm Condoleezza Rice. Swag." Repeat this line 50-200 times.

I would like to change the lyrics a bit to get rid of the blond and blue eyed girl being the focus of the song, and instead have University of California be the focus. Another edit might be ... I don't think it's necessary to repeat "I'm just a California Boy" all 8 times. A bit monotonous.
Otherwise, it's a catchy tune.

Who wants to take a stab at that?
Here's the original:

[Verse 1]
I g-g-g-g-gotcha don't I girl
I l-l-love you, yes I do
Every time I see those light blue eyes
I start to think about you and I, you and I

[Hook]
I'm just a california boy X8

[Verse 2]
I see you at the beach why don't you speak to me
Yeah I look kinda strange but it's okay
If you knew about love then you know that it's in your heart
And I wanna show you it's okay, it's okay, it's okay

[Hook]

[Verse 3]
So much love is in the air
Just go take a look outside
Peace is the only thing that we can do
And all we can do is try, do is try, do is try

.....If he embraced this, he could get some good marketing out of it.
It could be the anthem of the team on our post season march. If they go far into March Madness, he goes with. CBS would eat it up.

James Harden with a NBA record number of turnovers in an elimination game after being cursed by Lil B?

Yeah, I think we need to get this guy on our side.

He is already on our side (wearing Cal gear, filming videos on campus) and given Jaylen's tweet, it sounds like he has indirectly helped deliver our monster class--so let's just keep The Based God on our side.

I take back my prior proposal that Lil B represent, perform at, associate with, Cal in any way. I just did a search of him. He's 25, from Berkeley, is 5'6" and has song titles of: I got bitches, suck my d--k, I'm the devil, etc....

Free speech, sure. But this is just base garbage values. Going to a prestigious university such as Cal should prepare our student body for life way way above the gutter and primitive mindset this small sample represents.

Now I guess I know what Based God stands for. I want nothing to do with the king of the gutter.

I have no problem with your disdain for rappers (or other performers) that showcase values you don't agree with. While I don't personally agree with you in this instance, I can see why you feel the way you do.

I grew up listening to Too Short, NWA, Geto Boys, etc. and I wouldn't say it negatively impacted me in any way. I got into Cal, have a good career, have three young and prospering children....and I still listen to all of that music. When it comes to Lil B, I don't have any problem with how he chooses to express himself through his music. I'm sure there is a line he could cross, but I'm not sure what that would be.

I went to go see Book of Mormon this weekend. I thought it was hilarious and one of the best productions I have ever seen. However, the content of the musical was over the top and offensive on many levels. Yet, here was a sold out house with $200+ price tag for seats. Pretty affluent crowd. Does their attendance at the show reflect their "gutter and primitive mindset"?

To each his own UCBerkGrad. I am not a huge fan - my college son is - of rap.. I've enjoyed some performers and not really gotten into most in any way. Old school rock and roller with some funk (there's that Oakland in this boy again) as well as some jazz. But I can't allow my feelings to get in the way of someone else's taste.

Thank you for the take on Book of Mormon. I've been noodling the idea of taking the wife to SF to see it and having dinner in a good restaurant as well. added to the to do list as of now.

Chris Rock has a good bit about this. About a bunch of black girls on the dance floor singing along to L'il Wayne-"Stick it in her ear, stick it in her a$$, stick it in her mouth" Rock-playing the sensitive man-asks them if they aren't offended. "Ain't me, he's talking about", they reply. "Stick it in her ear, stick it in her a$$, stick it in her mouth."

MIT was sure happy to have him as a lecturer.

I hope their prestigious students recovered from their trip to the gutter.

You are really out of touch. Lil B is a joke, and he's in on it too. He's not (well, no longer) a legitimate "musician" but more of a performance, shock artist who pushes how far you can take inanity while still retaining celebrity. In a lot of ways he agrees with your viewpoint. I think a lot of people read Lil B as a parody/indictment on the state of hip hop- personally I think he's just a zany guy who doesn't take anything very seriously.

Lil B has lectured at MIT. He is definitely controversial, and I won't argue for his artistic merits, but most of the stuff you are picking out is seen by most observers as ironic/parody of gangster rap as he is an advocate of positivity.

Maybe it's like those war movies that show an incredibly disgusting amount of gore and violence (shock value people pay to see) and then they fall back on the rationale as "we are SO completely against war and violence as a way to resolve problems, that we wanted to make it as realistic as possible. And if that means watching someone die under horrific physical and psychological conditions, so be it!"
Hmmm. Not always true.
