Student section full 30 mins before tipoff - good sign.

Having watched most of $C's games I am concerned about this one. They have the best back court in the conference but I hope this boils down to we are ascending and they are cratering.

What a killer environment today. #12 on $C was so rattled by the constant "airball" chants. And Wallace brought the house down with that monster dunk. It war awesome hearing the student section cheer "one more year" to rabb. Phenomenal season. So stoked i had my first set of season tickets. Go Bears!

I'm actually a big believer in doing this after the game. You have more time to really appreciate the players.

Very cool. I was part of that 90% who left - had no idea that would happen. Bummed to have missed.

The post-game was nice. They all gathered as a team for a couple minutes, then each of the seniors took the mic and addressed the (small, remaining) crowd. One last chance to applaud them. 90% of the fans had left by then, but it was kind of intimate, heartfelt and genuine. Glad I stayed.
KoreAmBear;842655290 said:
I hope someone got video of that.

I did, it's on my phone. I'll try to look into posting it when I can if nobody else beats me to it.

I don't know if Lavin was lying (he is into hyperbole), but he said Haas was his favorite arena, calling it a college basketball cathedral. Between Walton and Lavin, we have two huge fans of Berkeley.

I heard that too and thought it was strange coming from Lavin. What's up with all these UCLA guys?

Me too. That was cool. I don't remember seeing that before. The guys seem to genuinely enjoy the college experience, as they should. You only get to do it once.

When Rabb and and Brown realized what the students were chanting they looked at each other with genuinely puzzled expressions. It may be that they were thinking it would be nuts to stay, but I read it more as "1 more year? We were planning on getting our degrees." In the post game interview, Brown gave the standard "I'm focused on the season now and will consider my options after it's over" response.
No doubt they should go pro if they want to start collecting big paychecks and building NBA Hall of Fame type resumes, but then again, getting their degrees could be the path toward having a bigger and more positive impact on the world over the course of the long lives they have ahead of them.
