Stanford bball search came down to Tinkle & Haase, per sources. Not sure if Tinkle backed out or Haase was #1. Jarron Collins also involved

I don't think that's necessarily true about Haase being the "wrong" choice. No one knows. Tinkle has high-major experience, but it doesn't mean he's obviously a better coach. Haase is coming off a 26-7 season and his UAB team loses only one player. He was building that UAB program nicely.

this surprises me, although his PT was sliding ...

USC's Katin Reinhardt, who averaged 11.4 points this past season, told ESPN he'll transfer. Will be able to play his final season this year.

Goodness is it just in the Mater Dei basketball DNA to transfer all the time? Give it a rest Katin. Keep transferring until you become a lotto pick?

Any chance CM will pick him up? He had an offer from us.

[COLOR=#292929][FONT=Mercury SSm A]26-7 but a sub-300 non-conference schedule strength and a weak conference and lost in the first round of the NIT. Maybe he had something building but it doesn't seem all that impressive.

I believe Simon would have to sit out TWO years if he transfers to a pac12 school, so, NO.
It's a conference rule.

I'm not sure, but I don't think that's true anymore. I think it's back to the 1 year rule.

Not bad for a guy who is 14-40 in P-12 conference play, and who's big breakthrough season was a three-way T-6th finish at 9-9 . . .

Maybe he has the same agent as Sonny.

I'm glad Furd didn't get Tinkle. He's done a good job at OSU and it could have translated to Furd very well. Maybe Haase is good but Tinkle seems like he could have settled in and stayed a while.

Agreed. I'm amazed with what he has done at OSU. They look well coached and his demeanor seems really solid. I'm thinking he withdrew his name, maybe believing he owed his employer more than two years, before moving on. Plus, it would be cool to be able to make fun of a 'Furd coach named "Tinkle"! (Does anybody still use that as a euphemism for "urinate"?)

His son playing for him complicated things. Sure he could have left but his son on the team made things a bit personal and not just business. I think you're right on the two years bit...and I'm guessing he sees a lot of upside at OSU, enough not to jump ship. I think he's going to do well at OSU, stay for 10 years or so. Probably has a better cost of living in Oregon...and Furd is cheap on HC.
