What is wrong with Roger?

After a great game the week before, he seems unwilling to put up a shot, even when wide open.last night he got a great pass From Mullen in the corner which left him an open three from the position he claims "Is Money" , yet he went up and came down without shooting thus creating a turnover .

Its as if something is wrong with his hand and he wants to fake and pass. I also noticed in warmups he was not making his normal amount of threes.

I actually think Roger has more upside this year than Domingo. We should run a play for him once in a while to help his confidence. We certainly need a 4th guy to score. It killed us last night, especially considering 0 points from Domingo.

Mullen = Mullins. I know it's just three games in.

we need both roger and domingo for their defense (domingo is playing out of position at the 4 on defense, but is really a guard)
roger is a SF who can also defend a guard.

I think domingo is a better shooter than roger, but roger only takes wide open 3s.

the problem is neither is a top shooter, and domingo does not have good form when shooting on the move, or with a defender on him.

I do like that Roger is rebounding better. He certainly can get up there.

both are good role players, but until Bird returns, both are being put into bigger roles than they probably are ready for.

Small sample size but RMB made nearly half his treys last season (46 pct). I'd also like to see him play more over Domingo.

Nothing is wrong with Roger. Most of us who've watched our guys closely laughed when people thought he'd suddenly become a scoring option. He was raw coming in and he just hasn't developed enough to match his athletic ability. He's still an asset in spot minutes though. You could not have drawn up a better situation for him than when he was defending in iso on the last play of regulation against UCI.

So basically we have no one that can come off the bench and offer instant offense. Maybe Chauca will get some playing time when his hand is healed.

That person was supposed to be one of Mullins/Mathews/Bird. Maybe they'll experiment with Mullins off the bench and Sam at off guard when Bird returns.

I think Roger is going to be fine, but he needs to be used in the right spots. Meaning, he needs to play with the Starters.

In the 1st H of the SDSU game, Moore was out with foul trouble, bird was out, and rabb didn't start and/or was out with foul trouble as well. So Roger was on the court with a combination of Singer, Coleman and Domingo. That's just not going to work for any of them.

But if Roger is able to play with the starters, I could see him being a very poor man Dennis Rodman. Play defense, hustle, get loose balls get some rebounds, but not be relied on to score at all (unless he has a wide open three - which he will get only if he's on the court with the starters). In that type of role, Roger could be very valuable.

But this basically means Bird must be healthy for this to happen. Cause Roger needs at least three other legit scorers on the court at all times.

RMB is doing just fine... I never expected him to be a scoring machine.. but if D sag on him, he can hit open shots..
On O, the D has to get a body on him, as he slashes well to get rebounds...

a. His FT has improved and not a liability.
b. His on ball D is best on team. (his style of play would fit in fine if on SDSU roster)
c. Cal's scoring after the top 3 O scorers will be by committee. (Ivan, Jabari, Charlie)

Might even see some of Sam at the 3 and Bird at the 2. Sam is certainly capable of defending some SF's and Bird is the better perimeter shooter.

This is right on, in my opinion.
