Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown on his relationship with former Cal teammate, point guard Brandon Chauca:
JB: "Til this day I'm still close with BC. When I was at Cal, I was only there for a year but he was one of the only people that were really in my ear, everyday just talking to me about how to be better. When things weren't going well and I was frustrated at Cal because things weren't going my way, he was the one telling me keep staying the course, that I was going to be alright and just to keep staying with it. He always told me keep staying with it. He was one of those few guys who kept saying that to me."
Q: You only played a year with him, yet you guys are so close. What is so special about your bond that you hold up til this day?
JB: "We built a really good relationship, he's like family to me. His mom and dad are like family to me, they came to the Wizards game -- their whole family came out. Chauca is my guy man, anything he ever needs I got him. Just because he helped me when I was in college, mentally keeping me stable when I was frustrated... he didn't have to do that, he wasn't playing when I came in. Guys like me and Ivan were probably taking the minutes away from him that he would've got if I didn't come. But he still came in with a great mindset like, 'I'm going to help this kid' and he did. He helped me out a lot. Great friend. A brother."
