Cal Headlines 2018 Legends Classic At Brooklyn's Barclays Center

BROOKLYN, N.Y. California men's basketball will headline the 2018 Legends Classic at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

The Golden Bears join St. John's, Temple, VCU, Detroit, Bowling Green, Hampton and Loyola Maryland in the championship rounds of the tournament, set for Nov. 19-20 and airing live on the ESPN Networks. Tickets are available beginning Friday, March 30 at 7 a.m. PT.

Cal will also host a pair of regional round games in Berkeley prior to tipping off in New York. Matchups for the championship rounds, as well as regional round opponents, will be announced at a later date.

This is one of those events where you don't have to win your first 2 games in order to advance to "the championships" in Brooklyn.
That would be embarrassing.

Nonetheless, this is great news, and should be lots of fun for all, though none moreso than NYCBears and NYCityBear - where's he been?

I imagine we will get one of these 4 "lesser" teams in Game1 in Brooklyn:

Bowling Green 221
Hampton 251
Loyola Maryland 319
Detroit 323

The top 4 seeds would be:

St. Johns 77
Temple 86
VCU 130
Cal 229

Maybe we play Bowling Green or Hampton in Game1, then get St. Johns next, if we win.

Pretty weak field. But it is in a premier venue, so it is an excellent opportunity for the Bears to make some early season noise.

Always fun for the kids to go to New York. I hope Jordan and James enjoy it.
