Kansas, NC State named. Good thing CSUN didn't find any "red flags" in Gottfried's hire.

I read somewhere tbis morning that KU put out a statement to the effect that they were aware they were named victims in the FBI investigation. Haha. Victims.

Right. "Victims" for getting the recruit(s) they were after. Ridiculous.

The victimhood angle is pretty ridiculous. From a criminal law perspective, they are technically victims under the honest services fraud theory. (Right?). But from the ncaa's perspective, not victims in the slightest.

Although the indictment did list them as victims.

This entire scenario is hilarious. Shoes companies paying other shoe companies off to steer players to schools and the staff's at those schools are "victims". Really interesting language. So Kansas knew nothing and it is just the shoe companies wanting these kids at that school. Right. Sure.

Kansas has been IMO one of the longest standing "dirty" programs in all of college hoops. Hope Self and crew go down hard. I love the Sergeant Schultz defense these coaches use. I know nothing. Really hard to look at these guys and not want to puke.

This is a fun thread:

The problem in this whole mess is that I believe the blue blood will walk - and not necessarily because they were ACTIVELY complicit in this. They probably smelled the stench - but that doesn't mean they were in the muck. Much more problematic is want-to-be's like NCSTATE.

Consider.

from a marketing standpoint where do I want MY shoes attached to the feet of an elite one and done? With elite programs. Why? Because they have the greatest change (NCAA tournament) and following (long-term success) of attracting the greatest number of eyeballs to my brand. Later on, having built some name recognition in the development league (aka the NCAA) said elite athlete goes onto the NBA where hopefully they build greater brand awareness which then translates into a mutually beneficial endorsement deal that helps me sell.....more shoes.

Now why in the WORLD would I pay a kid to go to a non-blue blood school? Maybe if there were additional side payments, kickbacks, some sort of extra incentive. But that would be the only reason to ignore the first rule, get the kids to a blue blood. And if the market clearing price requires now making 40K payments to get them to Kansas so be it.

The interesting thing here is that Kansas doesn't have to be involved at all EXCEPT to turn a willful blind eye to the transactions occurring between third parties so that it maintains the pipeline. What it doesn't want is to be closed out of this market.

Didn't Charlie Moore transfer to Kansas? (not suggesting anything - just observing)
And Kansas basketball has been on Larry Brown probation before, I believe.
