More full court press

Our half court defense is SO BAD that I would like to see more of the coach's initial intention to press and make our games more high paced. I am not suggesting using it the entire game, but I think something this team has is some solid athleticism and quickness and it might help to avoid the deficiencies of our half court defense, which last night was basically unwatchable.

It might require some minutes from Roman Davis and some extra minutes from Gordon, but honestly we don't have much to lose at this point. Anything is worth trying to make us more competitive.

Hank Gathers' LMU team. No D. First team to score 125 points wins.

Westhead's teams led Division I in scoring in 1988 (110.3 points per game), 1989 (112.5), and 1990 (122.4).[3] LMU's 122.4 point per game in 1990 was still a record as of February 2016.[4] As of April 2012, Loyola Marymount held the five highest combined score games in Division I history. Four of the five occurred during Westhead's career, including a record 331 in the 181 to 150 win over United States International University on January 31, 1989.[5] Wikipedia

Not implying we could be that much better. But I still think making it less of a half court game is worth a try.

Didn't Wyking try this last year and it backfired? We have so many wings n guards you would think we could succeed with it.

Yah it worked for a half v. Wichita State. I think it was Wyking's plan all along. But he does not have the experience to know when to use it and to what extent. Instead, I believe due to his lack of feel for coaching he threw it out altogether. And yes, this team's personnel (smaller team lots of wings) seems to fit more than last year's. Who knows? It's early in Wyking's coaching learning curve. He should have been testing this out at Missouri State or Montana.

We had more experienced players and better defenders last season, and our full court press failed miserably.

If you don't have players who can defend in the half-court, how do you think they will do when the offensive players have the entire full court to work with?
