I just looked at the schedule and it shows only 9 Cal games (including the first round PAC12 tournament game) are televised this season on a normal or usual TV channel. You have to be able to stream the remaining 21 on PAC12 network (plus one game on the Mountain West network). It would seem that Cal is so bad that the TV networks don't want to show many Cal games now. Is this about money?

First TV starts screwing with our game by running beaucoup commercials, needing endless timeouts from the action. Then they put cameras up in the rafters, so the players look like midgets, and recognizing players becomes almost impossible. Then, TV networks start messing with the starting times and maybe even the dates of play. And now, they want us to stream most of the games, if we are to watch them remotely. Cal has become minor league entertainment now in many ways, and not AAA league either.

I resent having to go to games at oddball starting times, and I resent all the timeouts, and I resent having to stream any game We had a good system for games at Haas and good TV when we could not get to Haas for a game. Now we have neither, or at least I don't. With all this marvelous modern technology, I am back to listening to Cal games on AM radio, like when I was 8 years old, with a radio and headphones that I smuggled in under the sheets in my bed.

Hey Bearister, send me the link for the "Get off my lawn" Eastwood video clip. I need it now more often than ever.

Great. Stream stopped four times last night. Crap network with amateurs operators. Black screen going to commercials and some breaks have no commercials advertisers won't pay because they know the audience is small. Fire the guy they hired as pac 12 commissioner.

I am starting to think I phone notifications are disrupting the stream. Whrn I disabled twitter and most other notifications the stream did not stop. Not sure this is the problem but next time I will disable all notifications and see if it solves the problem. . I know for sure if a phone call comes in, it will stop the stream. In the past, incoming text messages have stopped the stream. Not sure about facebook messenger.Maybe soneone more tech savey can comment on this.

It was much better when the games were on Comcast bay area. Streaming is a giant pain in the ass, especially for me.

Sorry, I just got ticked off. So are you saying that real TV Networks like FOX, ESPN, and PAC12 Bay Area, along with real TV local channels like KTVU, KGO, KRON, KPIX, etc will start showing Cal games if Cal becomes a more successful team? We have a chance to finish the pre-conference season at 6-6, which is slightly better than last season's 6-7. Would we have to get to .500 overall to get most or all of our games picked up by real TV networks and channels?

The season is set before we start. Perceptions are all that matters. Arizona oregon and fucla get watchable channels, we don't.

iPhones, especially older ones, generally can't do two different things at once, like stream a video and answer a phone call or receive a text. Android phones generally can do two (or more) things at the same time, depending on the phone's processor.

I think the influence of TV on college sports is an example of myopic greed. In the long run the impact of TV will actually destroy the reason they paid so much money for it (losing the fans). A lot of money has been made, but other than the coaches, the other constituents (players, fans, and colleges) haven't benefited. Perhaps an argument can be made that football has benefited colleges, but not basketball.

Sort of like the over exploitation of soil nutrients can turn agricultural land into a desert. Eventually, everything dies, but eventually things grow back. I think the TV influence peaks in the next decade and college basketball normalized in a post TV money world a decade later. I should have about 3 years of functional fan life left, at that point.
