had a cup of coffee this morning with Andy and his son at the Rossmoor Diner. He gave me some "inside information" concerning our favorite topic. i.e. whether or not to give WJ capital punishment, life without parole, life with parole, 15 years to life, or a suspended sentence given the time already served. His 'insider" info concerned donors and the new AD. Let's just say that some donors met recently with the AD. Let's just say that the AD made a declarative statement to the donors and Cal well-wishers. His response was both reassuring and depressing. I will not reveal what was said. Let's just say that I no longer feel the need to wax eloquent on this topic. let's just say that, at the end of next year, there will b e time enough for more waxing ( eloquent or otherwise) the Ad also said that Chancellor Dirks now lives here in Rossmoor. One of these mornings Chancellor Dirks will wake to find his house draped with toilet paper as far as the eye can see. I do not expect any bloggers here to snitch on me---after all, you are sturdy golden bears and you prize loyalty and solidarity . Right????

Andy Wolfe is still alive? And lucid? Amazing! Perhaps there is hope for other Old Blues!

I have always had the ultimate respect for Dirks because I assume that he must hold at least 4th rank Jeet Kune Do to have the swagger to sport a look begging for a beat down.

Really surprises me to hear that. I know that Dirks and his wife bought a house in the Berkeley Hills less than 2 years ago. I do know that he's now working for a for-profit charter school kind of company.

My contempt for Dirks knows no limits.

milkman; Andy: BTW, Andy Sr. looks terrific. tall and hulking, he looks like he could still go around there rounds in the ring. bill sharman said that Wolfe was the "toughest player" he ever played against in either college or pro ball. andy was in the military before he graduated and sports a tattoo to prove it. he is a stalwart member off the Republican Party here in Rossmoor. I remember listening to Cal and Andy on the radio when I was a kid.

I believe he and Wayne Hooper practiced law together for a spell before Wayne leased space from the Knox Ricksen firm.

But were these donors wealthy enough to fund WJ's contract payout? And did they offer to do so?

Can't we start a GoFundMe for the buyout? Last time I checked that hot dog vendor outside CMS that had his money seized by a University policeman for not having a permit is worth a few million now.

Not sure what to make of this "inside information," since the statement about Dirks is wrong (I confirmed last night that he is still living in the Berkeley Hills, although he is spending most of his time in New York and Asia).

Pete and I r good friends. We played BB and VB at UCD and lived in the old phi house. Andy jr. transferred to Davis. Had many great times over the decades. Went to my first Big Game with the Wolfe's in 1976. Andy sr is still a helluva crib and liar's dice player.

Thank you. I'm going with this positive accounting of things Bears' hoops.
