Travis is a friggin' legend on this board!!!!
Further proof of how bad Cal and PAC 12 are in basketball.
He is compared to Cuonzo, Wyking and Fox.
If you look at coaching records I believe both Fox and Cuonzo have outperformed Travis.
Heck, Cuonzo got a 4 seed in the tourney.

In his 5 years, Montana has finished first 3 times (including the last 2 years) and 2nd once. They have won more than 20 games 4 times and made the post season 4 times, including the NCAA tournament twice, as many times as Fox did at P5 Georgia over 9 years. And Georgia is a hotbed of basketball talent, Montana? Not so much. Moreover, Decuire's Montana teams are ranked higher than Fox's Georgia teams. DeCuire has achieved more at Montana than Monty did. He has pretty much maxed out Montana's potential. That is a sign of an excellent coach. Fox's record at Georgia is one of mediocrity and underachievement.

where will the AD end up after discovering 'that he needs more time to spend with his family'? deCuire was thge obvious hire, but, like so many people, the AD wanted be "his own man" and to show the world that he could land a terrific coach without getting input from Monty, et al. This has the potential to be the greatest blunder in Cal history. This is what happens when an AD with a Hockey background from the Air Force suddenly becomes the Ad at Cal. mike Williams.......please come back......all is forgiven. my admiration for Chancellor Crist has just dropped a couple of notches. if i weren't a grown man, i would start to cry. what the heck....I'm going to cry anyway.
Decuire was the obvious hire? What was so obvious about it?
1. He was cheap
2. Our most successful (recent) basketball coach endorsed him
3. He had some success as a lower level head coach
The same was all true of Russell Turner.
When they were brought up, Monty endorsed DeCuire.

"I think Travis would be an excellent candidate," Montgomery said. "Russ would be a excellent candidate. Obviously, the guy at Moraga.
