Per release from the PAC 12. Currently, all of the power conference schools play 18 game schedules except for the Big 10 which plays 20.

SAN FRANCISCO The Pac-12 Conference Council and Athletics Directors Committee, on recommendation from the league's head coaches, approved a change to the format of the men's basketball schedule at its annual spring meetings on Thursday. The men's league schedule will increase to 20 games beginning with the 2020-21 season.

"We continually work with our membership to identify strategic initiatives which can lead to future success in Pac-12 Men's Basketball. We believe moving to a 20-game schedule will lead to more competitive schedules and help our programs and league achieve our goals of enhancing the Pac-12 basketball brand and preparation for postseason play," said Pac-12 Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Jamie Zaninovich.

The Council and ADC also voted to approve the head coaches' recommendation to place the two additional Conference contests in the months of November and December with strong preference for weekend dates when students are on campus.

"Strategic scheduling - both conference and non-conference - are critical to the strength and well-being of any league," said Oregon State Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes, who currently serves as ADC liaison to the Pac-12 Men's Basketball head coaches and was chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Selection Committee in 2015. "Our Athletics Directors, head coaches and league administrators are all in alignment that an increase to 20 Conference games is the best course of action for our league moving forward."

"Changing to a 20-game Conference schedule will improve the strength of schedule for all 12 teams and that's very important for the overall success of the league," said Oregon head coach Dana Altman, the active Conference leader and 29th in NCAA Division I history with 645 career victories. "It will also be really positive for the fans because each team will get to play 10 Pac-12 games at home."

Further details regarding the transition to the 20-game schedule will be announced at a later date. As part of the Pac-12's new basketball strategic plan, the Conference will be discussing non-conference scheduling standards at its upcoming CEO meeting.

The Conference's current annual rotation model will remain in place for the 2019-20 campaign and feature the following home and road matchups:

Arizona/Arizona State
Home: ARIZ/ASU, ORE, OSU, UCLA, USC, WASH, WSU, COLO, UTAH

The conference needs to get way better if they hope to make this a net positive.

So, when we were pac10, each school has 9 opponents, and we did both home and away games for all 9 = 18 conference games.
But we expanded to Pac12 and a true round robin would mean 22 games, which would reduce Nonconference games by 4.

So, now we're gonna drop 2 nonconfeence gams, but still not have a true round robin.

Why? Do they think this will improve our RPI?

It's gotta be money related. Make more money sellin tickets and Pac12TV games than cupcakes for everyone.

When we can beat CSU Bakersfield by 20 or 30, then I'll think that we need an extra two games.

So, we do NOT play twice next season:
ARIZ, ASU, UCLA, USC

That bodes well, no?

Speaking in league aggregate. And how much would any of UCLA USC ARIZ ASU earn (tv, tix/concessions, school fees paid to cupcake opponent for scheduling in first place) playing vs Bakersfield vs playing against each other? I think that's the point.

Larry Scott appears to have crunched the numbers, undoubtably.

The ACC is beginning a 20-game conference schedule this fall, one year before the Pac-12 does it:
https://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/2016/07/acc_will_move_to_20-game_conference_schedule_in_2019-20_when_acc_network_launche.html

So the Pac-12 will be the third of the P5 conferences to play a 20-game conference schedule in men's hoops.

How about removing the bottom two teams from the Pac-12 tournament as well?

The stupid conference tournament is all anyone (aka the media) care about since it determines the team who gets the auto NCAA bid.

LOL.

Seriously, though, that's not done much anymore because coaches hate dropping teams from the conference tournament. They think missing a conference tournament just gives ADs more ammunition to fire a coach.

Also, there's very little to be gained by dropping teams from a 12-team tournament unless you drop down to 8 and pare the schedule down to 3 days instead of 4.
