I've advocated shortening games, but more on the football side than basketball

not sure how comfortable I am with this as it fundamentally changes the game

Agree on shortening (at least removing the stoppages and delays).

Also agree that this doesn't seem like the best idea.

However, G-league is a great place to try it out. And happy to see some attempt to improve the experience.

BTW, for those that haven't seen the Santa Cruz Warriors play at Kaiser Pavillion - it's a wonderful experience.

The article didn't explain when a single foul shot was going to be worth one point, two points or three points.
I presume, the "and ones" stay the same - a foul on an inside the arc shot is two points and a foul on a three point attempt is worth three?

downside is less rest time for players (=fewer minutes for starters, more for scrubs) and refs (=more bad calls)

It seems reasonable ... in a lot of youth events, you get one free throw on a shooting foul and if you make it, it's two points.

I'm curious to see how it plays out on a bigger stage, but I'm not automatically against it.

I prefer giving the team fouled the option of shooting FTs or taking ball out on sideline

That will reduce the number of fouls at end of game and shorten the game, and just make the end of games better

I don't think it will have much effect because the first free throw takes the majority of time...the second and third take relatively very little time....Also, with bad free throw shooters, there seems to be an increase in the penalty to the fouled team as, in my perception, the first free throw is missed more than the second third.....If my perception is true, the change would lead to more late game fouling.....I like HoopDreams idea....
