I feel your pain, Bearister. I once got a phone call from Rerun of What's Happening fame (my favorite show as a kid) to wish me a happy birthday. My brother had stumbled upon a website with former celebrities who will do this for a fee and paid for the call. Sadly, I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer. I only got to listen to a voicemail. One of my life's greatest regrets. And he passed away about a year later.

The players will be able to profit from their own likeness, but not being paid by their school, I don't believe.

The more I think about this new rule, the crazier the possibilities that occur: Players on a team open up a little store, off campus, where they sell their own autographed photos, posters, used sneakers, etc. For only $10,000, they will sell a "special" autographed poster to rich alums/boosters. ("Dear Big C, I really appreciate you supporting Cal Basketball and I was honored to be able to lose to you by only three baskets, that time we played one-on-one. Thanks for only dunking on me twice. Go Bears! - Paris Austin")

...it makes you pine for the days when UCLA paid their hoop players to watch automatic sprinklers turn on and off (see Robby Benson in One on One) and the biggest decision in the life of a U$C football player was whether to turn pro after junior year and take a pay cut.

We didn't know each other but your sister was a class ahead of me and we both know the Murrays.

I received a call from Andre Kelly and talked to him for a bit. I enjoyed the chat and hope he did too. I told him I am looking forward to the season and also bought tickets to the game at Chase. I wonder how many calls each player made.

They only made them call BI posters to give us our due props. All others got robocalls with an old recording of Cuonzo.
