Simply an awful awful situation. Heart breaks for his ex-girl fried and the Bird family. I am fairly surprised this has not been resolved with a plea.

I agree....but any money he got from the Celtics will go in the civil suit in satisfaction of either the judgment or to fund a settlement.

I hope he gets something appropriate to the facts of the case (when they come out) and his mental/emotional condition, whatever that was, is and will be. I have a 7 yr old daughter: If anyone tried to strangle her, then I would want to strangle them, but I'm hoping society would keep me from doing that and come up with a solution for all concerned that was just.

He has admitted some facts of the case according to the Boston Globe. His mental/emotional condition? Maybe he was in a strangling mood?

Society has come up with a solution called prison. I am a big advocate of using it for people who have done what he has done (allegedly).

I have a 16 year old daughter and yes I would likely want someone who did that to pay. However, if I knew that person and cared about him, and we have no idea what the relationship was like then and now (has she forgiven him because of extenuating circumstances or because she still feels for him, do they still have a relationship, or does she want him to pay), I might have some sympathy. Also, if we were part of Jabari's family, while the situation is quite awful, you would still want the best for him. Bottom line is, we don't know all the facts and circumstances of the situation and relationships, and making definitive judgments as outsiders is not helpful.
