Why? Cal has a better coach who is actually running an offense and demanding energy on defense. There were no wide open three shooters in the corners, although we did give up some up top. Halftime adjustments stopped that.
Kareem South is an additional shooter we did not Have last year. Anticevich Is playing better and being put in a position to score.
Theimann. Is a better defensive player than Vanover .
Freshman point guard Brown is better than Austin.
We will see but these are my impressions from the exhibition game. .
Now that we've seen the Pepperdine game, do you still feel the same way?
The games were similar with the team playing much better in the 2nd half than they played in the first. After the Pepperdine game, Fox said he made no adjustments at halftime. Just told the players to play harder and stick to the game plan.
I agree on Kareem South, but it looks like we may have a lot more three point shooters than we had last season, and some from last season are now now shooting threes and making them: Notably Gordon and Kelly. And we have yet to see Klonaras or Kuany shoot a three yet, which might be interesting.
Vanover couldn't guard anyone in his first game, but by end of season he at least was able to block and bother a lot of shots. I'd need more samples to see how good Lars is. on defense. In his videos from games in Germany, he could not stay with his man at all, really lost.
I'd say Brown is better on defense than Austin. Based on the Pepperdine game, Austin is better on offense. Brown not as much under control as Austin.
