Puke shot 31 FT to our 12. Im not sure they needed that much help. They got a free pass on reach ins and over the backs. They killed us on the boards. Gap would have been 10-15 points less with less corrupt officiating.

I only got to watch the second half, but while they fought hard I saw how the art of blocking out has disappeared from basketball. I see it in the Pros also. Most of these players have always been bigger and stronger than their competition and thus never felt they had to get into position and block your man out. Duke was bigger and more athletic, which even meant more blocking out, but when you don't you are toast. Why it is not taught is beside me, but maybe someone has a better answer.

Agree. Cal is coming off the worst two years in its history. New coach, pretty much a whole new team. Beating Duke 5 games in wasn't a realistic goal for this team.

This game tells us what we already know - teams just not talented and wins will be tough. What Fox does with this experience will tell you a lot about the potential for the future. But this year, it is what it is.

I should have added GT played over-top-top well with their LOAD of a center fouling out with only 13 minutes played.

Should be a fairly good game. But I thought there was a chance of an upset tonight, so I obviously know nothing.

My observation from the game is that despite the beat down, I am hopeful. They did not dominate us physically. We will only get better. There were a lot of poor shots and mental lapses. It's a really young team that I see competing for a Pac 12 crown in two years with the right pieces added

It would have been much worse I think if Wyking were still coaching. They scored over 50 which I didn't think would happen. Yes, there is hope.

Texas is a top 25 team. My guess is we lose by 15-20

Completely in favor of an early season road game against a far, far superior team. It gives everybody, including the coaching staff, an in person example of where the bar is.

You'll have to listen to an NBA coach explain it sometime, but it wasn't the magic elixir that would have turned this game.
