POOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

As an assistant coach, Coach Jones was known to be good at developing players. Though at Cal as the head coach, he failed to develop players on his own roster. From california Golden Blogs

The players Are still learning. Its only the 5 th game.

LOL

You could give them 10 years to learn, but nobody's gonna learn how to be as athletic, tall, and skilled as Carey. Development matters, but it's nice to start off with someone who is already at a high level like Shevshevski does.

Carey was sensational. Hope Thorpe is our starting center in PAC 12 Play.

6 years or so ago USF had a superb guard, Cody Doolin, who was a dead ringer for Robbie Benson in One on One. D@ouchebag coach Rex Walters let Cody get beaten up by a teammate in practice resulting in Cody transferring to UNLV.

*The coach in One on One was a thinly veiled jab at the Wizard of Westwood. Portrayed by same actor that played Senator Pat Geary, Nevada in Godfather II.

Tough night for the Pac-12:

Duke 87 Cal 52 (Duke favored by 20.67 on Sagarin)
Coastal Carolina 79 Utah 57 (Utah favored by 6.20)
Omaha 85 Washington State 77 (Washington St. favored by 8.11)
Hofstra 88 UCLA 78 (UCLA favored by 11.07)

also,

Arizona 71 South Dakota St. 64 (Arizona favored by 19.13)
Furd 81 William & Mary 50 (Furd favored by 10.12)

Only the Furd outperformed. The others all underperformed by at least 10.

It's all just entertainment, so find a way to enjoy it.
The refs are there to feed your hatred addiction and keep the games close.

Not surprised. The P12, in both revenue sports, is the worst it has ever been in my lifetime.

Sean Miller has reloaded (yet once again) with 3 good new transfers (none of whom start) and 3 top recruits (all of whom start).

And by extension probably the worst the league has ever been in its history. Though the late 90s in football....

And instead of capitalizing, Cal cannot get a winning conference record in either sport.

Has the real Kareem South yet to show up or is this (it is what it is) at this level?

A rising tide floats all boats and a falling tide does the opposite. If USC is having trouble landing 5-star players then it stands to reason that Cal will as well. If Cal was still recruiting at its previous level while the rest of the league fell back that would be one thing, but that's not happening. Relative to the rest of the conference Cal is actually recruiting the same or worse than it used to (in terms of class ranking in the Pac-12).
