I was looking at the espn transfer list and saw this player who is in the top 40 of ESPN's transfers:
7-3 C redshirt junior from Sweden at Loyola Marymount
("The Sweden native redshirted this past season but should generate significant interest due to his size. Averaged 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 60% from the field over the past two seasons.")

as a freshmen played 8 minutes averaging 1.5 rebounds, 2.3 pts shooting 47%
soph played 25 minutes, averaging 6.3 rebounds, 8.6 pts shooting 62%
junior played 26 minutes, averaging 6.3 rebounds, 10 pts on 59%

Lars played 14 minutes averaging 2.2 rebounds, 3 pts on 56% shooting
These are comparable numbers

My point is a player like Lars can improve over 3 years

Well, me and SFCityBear have taken a lot of grief asserting that proposition.

Well, Lars does have a sweet looking hook shot, which is money, but it needs more range. He already is close to the Swede's improved FG%. What he needs is to catch the ball better, and take more shots, develop a jumper, and a tip in, and not be afraid to dunk. Not impossible. He has the thing that they can't teach and that is 7 feet of height.

Yeah, well, if Lars proves us right, Fox will have solved the problem of finding a center, and we can gloat. We wouldn't do that, would we?

Did Lars ever surprise you on occasion with how well he moved his feet on defense? He did me. Yes, he needs to work on his hands, but in fairness to him, a significant number of passes he dropped came in below his waist level. It is his job to catch those too but that can be easier said than done for a 7 footer.

As Red Auerbach said, "When fast guys get tired, they get slow; when tall guys get tired, they don't get short."

And also on the plus side, after a few games, he was usually the first or 2nd fastest guy to get down the floor and back on defense. A lot faster than Rooks and Okoroh did this.

Yeah, but all players get SLOWER when they're tired. A 6'5'' player doesn't get any shorter when he's tired, either.
