advocates of free market theories will see progress with this...

And besides the G-League stepping up as true minor league for top players who don't want to take the college route, this is the first article I've read that talks about one of my major points, which is college players get more than a scholarship, room & board, and professional training ... they build brand ... that's got real economic value...

College basketball's biggest selling point is exposure and opportunity to build a brand. Zion Williamson turned into the biggest show in the sport during his time at Duke, Trae Young became a top-five pick at Oklahoma. Elite prospects that go to college are going to be on national TV 30-plus times a year from November until March, and then they're going to have the entire country watching them for three weeks in March. There's no bigger selling point to future stars than that.

I like this G League option. The BRAND impact only affects an extremely small minority of players (and most of them already have some of it before entering college).

The NCAA is really not equipped to manage high dollar sports entertainment or the be the stooge for NBA ownership.

I am not in the 'do not pay players camp'

I just disagree that players are 'only getting a scholarship'

Certainly agree with you that G League can be part of the solution, and that NCAA (and schools) aren't well setup to run semi-pro teams
