I only count 8 returning vets and three recruits. If that is right, we have two schollies left to give. I hope we don't waste them, if there is no good player available.

Bradley and Brown are our only returning perimeter players who've played significant minutes. I think a team needs at minimum of five so I'm fine with adding four, especially with Hyder possibly having to sit out a season.

Up front we lack a great rebounder or rim protector but those are hard to find. I'd consider that a priority for 2021.

Olivier Sarr Enters Portal

Sarr had us as a finalist 2 years ago. Maybe even a silent commit? He had a breakout year averaging 13 and 9. He's going to have a ton of options including going pro I would imagine. Wonder if he regrets not coming here and wants to make that dream come true? haha

This could really make us competitive. Maybe something good might happen.

Sarr was pretty unimpressive his first two seasons at Wake but he really turned a corner as a junior and ended up being one of the better big men in the conference. Watched him live in a game this year and was amazed at how well he'd developed in all aspects of his game.

That said, we still don't need a big man, especially with one scholarship remaining and nobody yet that can back up the point. Plus, he's gonna have his pick of the litter and may very well end up at a place like Kentucky who just whiffed on Matt Haarms.

We are not going anywhere with The big men we have. We DO need a big man. Should be priority.

If Cal plays as well all next season as it did the final three games of last season, the current bigs will help take Cal somewhere. Lars particularly should improve a ton year to year. Additional shooters should have a big impact.

Kelly is a solid center/PF for us. He's improved his offense against bigger/taller/athletic defenders, and he himself improved defensively, partly from slimming down and getting stronger
