BERKELEY California men's basketball's 2020 class is complete with the addition of Stony Brook grad transfer Makale Foreman, head coach Mark Fox announced today.
A 6-1 guard, Foreman played one season at Stony Brook after transferring from Chattanooga and missing the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He was a standout for the Seawolves this season, averaging 15.6 points in 33 appearances to rank second among his squad. He also averaged 2 assists and nearly 3 rebounds. The Kingsport, Tenn. product set Stony Brook's single-season record for 3-pointers with 104 triples made.
"Makale is an outstanding 3-point shooter who can play both guard spots," Fox said. "He finished last season with the eighth-most made threes in the country and his ability to shoot the ball will definitely help our team. I am excited about his commitment to team success and his desire for the world-class education we offer."
Foreman also tied the program record for 3-pointers and 3-point percentage in a single game, knocking down eight 3-pointers while shooting 80 percent from beyond the arc at UMBC this March.
Prior to his time at Stony Brook, Foreman played at Chattanooga for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, appearing in 60 contests and averaging 7 points. In his sophomore season with the Mocs, Foreman started all 33 games and averaged 10.2 points, 2 rebounds and more than 2 assists per game. He shot 38.2 percent from 3- point range and 39.9 percent from the floor, reaching double figures 16 times.
Foreman is the fifth and final signee in Fox's latest recruiting class, joining incoming freshmen Monty Bowser and Jalen Celestine, as well as transfers Ryan Betley (Penn) and Jarred Hyder (Fresno State).
