I'm feeling optimistic although St.Marys remains a good possibility. I think it's make or break for Fox either way. You can't lose a local star to a team in an inferior conference if you want other recruits to take you seriously. That simple...

Why are you feeling optimistic exactly? He's a 4 star recruit. Fox has not shown the ability to recruit stars at all. If Furd wants him, we're in big trouble. He will have suitors nationwide. Wish I could, but don't share your reasons for optimism.

9 years ago Fox landed McDonald's All-American 5 star Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who went on to earn SEC Player of the Year in helping Fox's Bulldogs go 15-17 two years in a row before leaving as a lottery pick.

He's just a junior at Campo this year, right? Unfortunately, lots of time for other schools to move in on him, or for him to realize maybe he doesn't want/need to stay close to home.

It was right about this point in his high school career (maybe a few months earlier) that Lebron James mentioned maybe coming to Cal. Not only did that boat never sail, it never even got into the water. Different circumstances here, for sure, but what I'm saying is there is a lot of time for different scenarios to arise.

Hoping for the best.

Agreed, across the board. There remains a lot of ocean ahead of us in this recruiting battle and the winds could swirl in many directions between now and then. The Roberson commitment is helpful, as is the education. Still need to play well as a team on the court and show the program is headed in the right direction to get both Mahaney and then the big body BOD stud in the following class.

Agree on all your points.

"different circumstances", alright, because Lebron turned pro. Like Dirk, before him.

The NCAA actually declared Dirk ineligible. He still wanted to come to Cal and Braun had lawyers ready to fight the NCAA, but then the NBA came after him.

He has an Arizona offer and he's playing with Prolific Prep. Not sure why it's limited to Cal or St Marys.

There is substantial debate about whether Mahaney is playing for Prolific Select. By the way, Prolific Select is similar to an AAU team and will be playing in the fall and winter before the CIF season gets going Mahaney continues to play for the Campolindo bb team.

I doubt he would chose AZ, as they will be on about 3 years of NCAA probation.
Sean Miller is not in contract talks with the university (he needs an extension to fight off recruiting rumors of his demise), and they're letting him die on the vine in a year and a half when his contract is up. He's got nowhere to go.
Arizona is recruiting Euoros, as they can always leave and go home to make some money. US kids are stuck. or the G league...

Yes, plus, there will be lots of other offers. The guy hasn't even had his 11th grade season yet. Let's hope for the best and not try and overthink a situation that is still in its fairly early stages.
