Looks like we are following a four-year plan to get the program back on track:
Year 1 - Stop the bleeding with some international players; establish a team identity and style of play
Years 2 and 3 - Bring in some more athletic players and some grad transfers; show that we can be good at individual player development; demonstrate that this style of play can win some games
Year 4 - Find a couple of those rare top players who think that it would be rewarding to help build a program rather than going to one that is already established, while also valuing a Cal degree; hope that a couple of local players will fill this role.
Year 4, in the future, will obviously be the hardest. But if Fox can pull it off, we could end up looking very much like Monty's program while he was here.
