I believe it is just the schedule so far. The conference season usually begins in January, but with Covid issues, I think the planners moved the ASU and UCLA games up, trying to get as many conference games in as possible, expecting the conference season to be cut short. I still expect some conference games to be played in January forwards perhaps into February and March. As of last week, the NCAA selections will be made on March 14, and the Final played on April 5.

The Pac-12 announced the early season conference games last December in order to move to a 20 game conference schedule:
