Hyder is not a better 3 point shooter than Foreman. They are fairly equal with Foreman having more range.
We have enough shooters. We need play makers. Matt is the only real one. Makale seems like the only other one remotely close. Did you see all the length and play making ability of seemingly the entire UCLA roster? Well Hyder would be one of those guys:
I hadn't seen that before. thx for posting.
looks like he's a little shifty, he uses hesi moves, change of speed, step backs, but not just to shoot, but to get his defender going the wrong direction so he can blow by them
unless you are super quick and athletic, it's tough to blow by a D1 defender which is mostly what our players try to do. Hyder doesn't look that athletic, so he's put in the time to improve his handle, and that enables him to get to the hoop. In contrast, Brown looks more athletic, but because he's not shifty, he's usually 3 feet away from the bucket when he drives, and so has to take that running shot off the glass. High degree of difficulty.
of course all these moves are MUCH more effective if you are a shooting threat, either from deep, or pull up, and he demonstrated both in these highlights
Interesting that with these highlights, two are against Cal ... one showing how he uses the step back to setup his drive
