Let's go Jarred Hyder!

Final Four here we come (if teams like Duke and 300 other teams cancel their season)!

We need to find out from the Mods if he has been practicing consistently with the. team. His mental state??.

Ridiculous that they didn't decide this shortly after they decided to play this year.

Now, all we need is to have seven five star recruits transfer to Cal (five starting and two for depth) and we will be all set.

USF is my wife's alma mater. The game tomorrow was not one I was looking forward to. Now I have a little more hope. It will be a rough day.

Does anyone have a good mental state these days?

guy made the right choice to transfer. at least he got some run at 21 minutes/game last season

scoring 6 pts on 35% shooting, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists, 1 TO. His numbers were horrible vs the two Big 10 opponents (5-19 shooting combined)

he hasn't played a minute this year

I remember when Cal showed a preseason video of the new players in a game of horse.

Deschon was up first, and chose to shoot from the FT line. I knew right then that he wasn't going to be a good player for us

Once they approved this it seems so nonsensical to have a Wednesday date. What about this decision makes it necessary to start Wednesday as opposed to immediately?

It wasn't really his choice to transfer, his scholarship was pulled and he was removed from the team. He didn't return to CMU this year (presumably stayed home in LA).

1 year at Cal, one year at CCSF, one year at CMU.

He did not return to CMU this Fall from his home in LA. He should have one more year.

I noticed his backcourt buddy Austin McCullough is averaging 10 points and 3.5 rebs for the Campbell camels.

yes, true. but it was good for him to transfer regardless. he would not have gotten any where near the minutes he got a CMU

as for McCullough, I thought he had more upside as a SG with size and a good shot. I see he's playing 12 minutes/game, scoring 5/game, shooting 40% from 3, and 83% FT

If I were king, Campbell wouldn't be the Camels, they'd be the Soups.

HoopDreams, if that HORSE story is true it vaults over all others to become far and away my favorite Deschon Winston story (the bar wasn't very high).

I read the earlier comment that he was available this past Wednesday. If not, back to my gloom and doom.

I can't remember if McCullough ever scored a basket for Cal? I know he had missed every shot he took pretty far into the season but I don't remember if he ever scored a basket. Anyone remember?

Our program is so bad we are trying to reminisce about barely walk-on players that transferred out to no name schools and did equally nothing there . smh

Honestly, his best option was probably to stay at Cal, apply for financial aid, get a good degree while being king of the RSF and intermurals. Maybe walkon when there is a coaching change. After that it is probably transferring to another UC and playing there.

Okay, I'm going to stir up a little discussion. In this ridiculous season is it even worth it to use a year of Hyder's eligibility? We've already played some games, the team is limited, and there is no guarantee of how many games may be played moving forward. Anybody think it would be better for Hyder to stay out?

I thought that if they stayed, they would retain their schollies (per Pac12 rule), but Wyking barred them from being part of the team.

RW, the problem with this is that Hyder will most likely graduate 2023 since it will be his 4th of college and he's a 4.0 student. So he might as well play now to get his 3 years in. If he doesn't use his eligibility this year the only way he plays for 3 years is if he stays at Cal for grad school.

First off I'm sure Jarred is dying to play so that is reason enough for him to play this year. I also think the team can REALLY use him. We need help at the point plus he can create his own shot which this team desperately needs.

Yup. He tried to pull them, apparently not knowing the rules. Had they stayed at Cal the Bears would have been down the two schollies.

Good points. Bottom line, I'm sure Jarred and the Coach have already worked this out and will make the most logical decision.

Now that was the finish to the USF game I dreamed about. My wife sitting next to me signing some GoDons cheer for the entire freaking game only for us to shoot a three point dagger with no time on the clock to win it. As I ran around the room celebrating, the only thing she said was "now I know what it feels to a Cal fan".

She always gets the last word.

Given a choice between having to suffer through losing starting with the first bucket of the game 40 seconds in, and continuing to trail when the horn sounded with 0,0 left, only leading when the ball in the air went through the net, or getting to gloat for 40 minutes only to see the opposition celebrate when the ball went through the net after the horn, I'd definitely take the former.

In this case, let her have the last word, you just take the win.

good news, bad news

this from SI:

Fox said that Hyder suffered an injury in practice a couple weeks ago, so his availability right now isn't clear.

"When he didn't get his waiver we shut it down to let it heal," Fox said. "So it will take him some time if that rule change goes through but he will be a welcome addition."
