Nice find, KAB.
IIRC, Fox was indicating yesterday that there was another game scheduled for the east coast trip that hadn't been announced yet, but it was likely the trip would get scrapped and they were looking at alternatives.
Seems like CSUN thinks we found one alternative, and I'm guessing that Cal is trying to schedule one more game in California before the currently scheduled next conference game in Eugene on New Year's Eve (whether we'll succeed, who knows).
It's the COVID era, nothing is etched in stone, but it is interesting it is etched on the CSUN website before it is etched on ours.
Looks like Furd is trying to get as many games outside of Maples as possible while the Santa Clara County restriction is in place. No Power 5 school agrees to play at the "Matadome" otherwise. Except remember Todd Bozeman did and he took a swing at the facilities guy lol?
Yeah, LSJU needs to play outside Maples until at least January, so why not play in the Matadome?
It was actually Campanelli who agreed to play at Northridge, even though the game took place nearly 2 years after Campy was fired. I believe it was 3 games at Cal in exchange for 1 game at Northridge deal, with games at Cal in 91, 93, and 94, and the return visit to Northridge where Bozeman took at poke at the facilities guy in 95. You may recall or may not recall that Bozeman's first game as Cal interim head coach after Campy was canned was against Northridge at Harmon in 93.
I believe we played CSUN three other times, all at Harmon/Haas, in late December 1981 under Kuchen (the second and slightly better of the two McNamara/Chavez seasons), the 2010-11 season opener under Monty (with Crabbe as a freshman, Jorge as a junior), and in the first of our two disastrous Wyking Jones years. We're either 7-0 or 6-1, depending on how you want to count the forfeit for playing Jelani at the Matadome the night Bozeman took his swing.
