It appears that she is thriving in her senior season. The Huskies are undefeated (19-0).

Last Wednesday (May 19th), Cal's 2021 recruit went off for 50 points against Bonita Vista of Chula Vista (San Diego area). I always speculated that this young lady was/ is a scorer. The stats of this game prove it.

Most followers on Nor Cal Prep feel that Max Prep ratings are worthless this year. Not enough games. And some teams are not at full strength. wait till next year.

Centenniel still #1 and now 21-0 after domination of Windward (see box below) on June 2nd:

Jayda Curry is a prolific scorer. Windward took away her three point shooting (0-2) but she still lead the way with 31 points. She hit 11 of 16 two point FG attempts (69%) and efficiently converted 9-11 free throws (82%). Jayda simply filled up the stat sheet with 12 rebounds, 6 assists & 4 steals. This young lady plays w/ high energy!

Sounds like just the dynamic type of player who will come in to really juice-up the team at both ends of the court.

Mater Dei vs Centennial | Girls Basketball | 6/10 | MaxPreps

Mater Dei knocked off Centennial for the girl's Southern Cal state championship, 83-80, in OT. Every quarter was close and the 2021 Stanford 6-3 post was the high scorer for the Monarchs. Jayda Curry had a tough game against the MD press w/ six turnovers. Centennial finished the #2 team in the state. GO BEARS!

Round 2. Centennial won Southern Championship 65 to 51. revenge. Don't have stats.

Rebounding is an under rated stat for guards

There are big guards who board well due to their strength and height and positioning (knowing where the ball will come off, blocking out, etc)

But there are some guards who rebound well because they are aggressive to the long rebound Paris was an example.

I'd like to see guards like Foreman get those rebounds. For the women's team, perhaps Curry can be that type of rebounder too. She seems to have that type of fearless, aggressiveness

Those 50-50 balls can make a difference in a tight game.

Pierre was a great rebounding guard too.

I like the plays where the big people box out and allow an aggressive guard to go to the boards. Hope that the new staff can teach that.

Lauren Greif and Rene Wright were great rebounding guards too.

People think about bigs blocking out under the basket

But guards should block out on the perimeter too

A lot has been reported on Curry's offense, but the L.A Times article credits Centennial's pressure defense For their huge victory over Mater Dei. Can anyone report on Curry's role and effectiveness in that defensive scheme?
