I think Penina Davidson also played netball - it's big in New Zealand.

O.T.: Our 9-year-old grandgirl in England swims, roller-skates, and just helped organize a 5K run to raise funds for a local parents' support center. She also plays netball at school, where it's a standard sport. Reshanda Gray and Kristine Anigwe growth charts adorn one wall of her room. Naturally, we've dreamed of her learning basketball, especially since her first game at Haas (aged 4 months), after which she was set upon, cuddled and cooed over by Reshanda, Brittany and Courtney.

I can imagine it was really hard for Pena as a basketball to avoid "walking" after catching a ball and to avoid fouling (she is such a tough post player, and it looks from this game that you can't put a pinky on another player as they shoot, even when they are directly under the basket

reminds me of HS. I played football where you wrap up the ball before getting hit. So when I played Rugby in PE class, I instinctively would do so when tackled instead of 'fumbling' the ball as in Rugby.

Netball was the top women's sport in the South Pacific country where I served as a Peace Corps volunteer (though I believe women's soccer has grown). Since there is no dribbling, women in villages could play outdoor netball on the dirt ground. It's not as fast as basketball, with precision valued over speed, but fun to watch.
