Top rated recruit in Northern Cal from McClatchy High School. 6'2", and I am not sure about her game.

Wonder if Cain, Harper and our Folsome recruit will play against each other this winter. All are from the Valley near Sacramento. Harper plays at Whitney High school.

Yes, according to Raoul. She's in the Class of 2025.
She was offered back in October 2021 along with Ava Rawlins of Folsom HS (April 2021).

6'1" W/F Carly Amborn of Archie Williams was also offered by Cal in that class

All the girls mentioned are fine players -- but none, at this point, appear to be difference-makers at the P5 level.

Morgan Cheli, committed to UConn, is by far the best player in Northern California.

Jordan Lee from St. Mary's of Stockton is a top-shelf player too but three inches shorter.

McKenna Wolitzcko of Archbishop Mitty is a wonderful athlete with some skills but it's hard to tell how she will do when not surrounded by a ton of talent. She's also an elite softball player. She very likely is a P5 difference-maker.

To compete with Stanford, etc., you need elite players surrounded by complementary talent. Recruiting complementary talent without elite players is what most teams do, hoping they'll get lucky one way or another and stumble into a star. (For the record, I didn't consider Jayda Curry a star -- a very good player, but limited by her size.)

The real issue is that there are just not enough elite players to go around, especially because -- just like down at the park -- they like to play with other elite players rather than with a bunch of pretty good ones.

And the European pool of talent is liable to shrink as women's soccer surges, drawing more elite athletes into the most popular sport in that part of the world than ever before.

Folsom and Whitney are in the same league so they play each other twice. past season folsom beat whitney 72-23 and 72-33. Harper scored 10 pt and 8 pts. folsom is division 1 SacSJ champion and Whitney is division 2 Sac SJ section champion. Folsom doesn't show stats, but Mafua has excellent supporting players. McCatchy played Folsom division one semi finals and lost 57 to 52 in Section. Cain scored 9 pt. Cain will be a junior and Mafua will be a senior. Harper Peterson will be a senior. Ava Rawllins plays for Folsom and will be a junior 5'11.

Thanks Lodebear. Almost stopped to see you in april as we went down to Yosemite. But I forgot about you till it was too late. Folsome is definitely the team to watch this year if you are a Cal fan. Wonder if they will play in the Jamboree.

schedules are not out and probably won't till close to fall. I finished Bret Harte's schedule but again won't be put on max preps till later. ava rawlins did not play last season due to injury early. She is a big point guard who can dribble is quick and can shoot long range and can drive and finish. we will see if see can come back from injury for her junior year. folsom will be tougher if ava comes back. Peterson is a good player but also surprised she got a schollie from Stanfurd. I think Cain and rawlins are better. Mafua did not start as a soph, but hit the big shot against St. Marys in section finals at 2 seconds left down 53 to 54 to win 55 to 54.

Mafua is a good offensive player, shoots very well facing the basket. she probably plays #3 like daniels does but much better shooter. maybe 4 if Cal plays one post. She shoots very well the FT line or elbow shots. she would need to be stronger to play inside. I would need to see more video of her inside post moves. She would be a good player for Cal. is she a P 5 difference maker? No. But she has one more year to show us. Our best player got a scholarship to play for a california state college, which is great for a small school where I coach. Doesnt happen very often. I am retiring but will still consult and scout other teams. 18 years of high school is a long time. Go Bears !!.
