The Bengals opened their season last Monday night with an easy victory (91-52). They return nine of their top ten scorers from last season. Idaho State also has a tenth player, Priscila Varela, from Angola that redshirted with an injury but is playing now. ISU was 11-19 in 2023-24 but has a head coach in his 16th season at the school. The only player that has departed the program was their post, 6-3 Lauren Bello, who averaged 8.3 points & 6.7 rebounds per game. The Bengals have brought in a couple of freshmen post players to provide depth there.

It appears from their box score that they rotate nine players double-digit minutes. The Bengals possess six outside shooters that connected on between 11-25 three pointers last year. In their recent game, they hit 50% (11-22) of their treys. Overall, this same group only averaged 59.5 ppg last season so they are not always hot from the field.

I would predict a similar score of 75-55 tomorrow morning. The Bears should dominate inside and must defend their outside shooting potential. This is a veteran team so I would expect that they might cause Cal similar ball-handling problems that fans witnessed vs St Mary's. The Bears committed 19 turnovers (which included 11 steals). If the team can clean up this weakness, they could win by thirty.

The Bengals top returning scorer, #5 Tasia Jordan, DNP, last game. She is a combo guard that averaged 11.1 ppg. The Bears also missed soph transfer, Gisella Maul, last Monday night.

I'd bet that Idaho State has never played in front of 4,000+ screaming school kids.
