The Dallas Wings won the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm and will have the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm to be held on Monday, April 14, 2025.

The Valkyries have the 5th pick.

Too bad they couldn't afford to hire a real graphic designer. I'm sorry but their logo art is lame and their uniforms even worse.

Valkyries' GM Ohemaa Nyanin was in attendance. The ESPNU broadcast showed her with lower third ID. I had the sound down so didn't hear anything they said about her. Presume a mix of marketing/networking/scouting. She probably would have gone to the farm if 'furd v LSU was there.

Happy to see that Temi ***benle (late of USC) is on the team. She is admirably smart and athletic (returning from injury?), and I believe also on England's national team with Kristine.

She's also a graduate of Harvard…got her BA in 3 years before transferring to USC for final year of eligibility.

I'm not sure how it can be done, but we should right away try to get some kind of cooperative connection with the Valkyries. Maybe a joint ticket package, with Cal tickets being essentially free, Also, they have selected seven international players in the expansion draft. So make those players feel at home over here at Cal, and then develop some additional international,connections through them.

So the Valkyries' draft was full of foreign players, most who have showed up in the W intermittently if at all.

As I understand it, they are not committed to any salary to any of these players, so essentially they have the entire salary cap to spend on free agents -- of which there are many.

Nneka Ogwumike is a very likely free agent signee, and the bottom line is that the roster that is introduced in the first game will be much, much different than this one.

Yeah, opening day roster will likely look much different. A couple of those European players are really good so if they ever do decide to come it would be nice, but meanwhile....Only 3 players they chose are actually contracted for next season (Thornton, Martin and Talbot).

Ogwumike may well be one of the free agents signed and many are guessing Kelsey Plum or Alyssa Thomas....They'll have more than a1.2 million in cap space to play with...Valkyries do have the 5th choice in the draft so some speculation that it could be UCLA's 6'7" Betts.

I'm with you. My sister had season tickets to the warriors for 15-20 years before moving to sf and then lacob pulled the rug out of oakland the day he bought them. Of course I know it was a business decision but when he had his first announcement in SF..I knew his intent. It's not to saybI won't go to chase but only if my sons wants to go..like on Klay's return to Chase.
